Carrying a bit too much timber methinks... Definitely overweight mate. And he wasn't the most mobile when this wasn't the case to be honest. Bit disappointed in him myself. No excuse not be turning up fit to play. questions Tarbs. He looks overweight as does Gray but with todays sports science etc do we think they actually are based on all the parameters they assess against I would hope club would not allow anyone to be out of shape, yes to the naked eye they might look chubby but are they based on the stats It’s interesting area probably good question for the forum

I don't believe the nutritionists role at football clubs is much more than advisory in most cases mate. Perhaps the club could utilise the nutritionist and sports scientists data to discipline a player who isn't keeping themselves fit. I don't think anyone will be on a prescribed diet under normal conditions though.

I just can't beleive they would be overweight. I remember an intervew ages ago where Austin was surprised that away fans call him fat, as he isn't. Maybe it's the QPR hoops making those with broader shoulders look fatter.

I just can't beleive they would be overweight. Same here. Club wouldn't stand for it. Don't see how they could in this day and age. We've all seem them put out videos showing how the players' condition is constantly being assessed, so anything like excessive BMI would be instantly flagged up. How poorly would that reflect on the club & medical/sports science team whom we have enough of on the books?

Bodø Glimt, a club most on here have never heard of I guess, is just one excample. Ps. Bodø Glimt are currently playing in a European tournament.

Apparently the rock is obese according to bmi but I dare u to find a ounce of fat on him. Diff shapes and all that.

I reckon we are probably being a bit naive. There are examples of overweight players up and down the divisions. Just look at Luke Shaw. Start's every week for Man Utd and is England's 1st choice left back. He's clearly overweight for a professional athlete and has been quoted in the past as saying he really struggles to keep his diet clean.

Mate was working on a film starring and directed by the Rock , he would just stop filming and go to the gym for 3 hours at a time leaving 300 people just standing around waiting for him to come back

BMI is only one factor in the equation. They calculate weight, body fat, fat free body weight, subcutaneous fat, visceral fat, body water, skeletal muscle, muscle mass, bone mass and BMR too 😛

You know me and know I’m not fat but I was refused insurance for being obese and had to get letter from doc to say it’s bollocks. A consequence of being fit and sporty.

At 5ft7 and tipping the scales currently at 13 and a half stone, I'm on the cusp of obese according the BMI calculator. A healthy weight for me is somewhere around 12 stone and even that would be considered overweight on the BMI scale. It really is a metric that needs getting rid off. Much better ways to gauge whether someone's weight is healthy in this day and age.

Nothing wrong with a fat footballer.
Seen plenty over the years!
Mickey Quinn, razor, akenfenwa, Gary mabbut.
Even jab molby used to run about the pitch, sporting bigger jugs than my mrs.

That Andy Reid was a quality player and spent most of his career at stone or 2 overweight!

Our alan was only ever good at water sports in particular swimming as no one else done it as they were good at football and playing that

We’re qpr not Real Madrid. If the players talented, I don’t care if his 2nd hobby is the insides of a Big Mac. We need to take players who are a little rough round the edges or a little big skinned. If Adel had been a hard working lad who liked salads he’d have never signed for us!
