Don Masson book signing on Sunday
One of the key members of “our greatest ever QPR side”, midfielder Don Masson is releasing his first ever autobiography, titled ‘Still Saying Sorry’.
Masson, who moved to west London in 1974, goes in-depth about his experiences of playing alongside R’s greats, such as Stan Bowles and Gerry Francis, as well as sharing never-before-told stories about what was Rangers' best-ever season in 1975-76, a campaign in which Masson was selected in the First Division ‘Team of the Year’ and runner-up for ‘Football of the Year’.
The book itself, due out in October and priced at £20, will introduce you to the Don Masson that few people know - a very private man who always tried to shy away from publicity. Now he feels ready to tell his story.
After leaving the R’s, a brief spell with Derby County followed - and after Scotland’s World Cup fiasco in Argentina - he joined to Notts County and went on to become the first man ever to captain the same club from the Fourth Division to the First.
The midfield maestro showed real star-quality during his time with QPR… but there was a darker side. His brutally honest story deals full-on with tackling his demons and explains how becoming a Christian made him a changed character.
Don Masson will be at the Stadium Superstore on Sunday before we face Stoke City.
Don will be available to sign his book ‘Still Saying Sorry’ between 1-2pm. Supporters will be able to purchase a copy of his book on the day, priced at £20 with all of the proceeds going to the Multiple System Atrophy Trust.
Masson made 116 league appearances for the R’s from 1974-77, scoring 18 times. He was a vital part of our greatest-ever side that came so close to winning the top-flight title in the 1975/76 season.
Be sure to head down to the Stadium Superstore ahead of kick-off to meet Don for a chat and purchase a copy of his book.
