Good post. As a kid in the 60s I knew a lot of 50s players because we collected cards in gum or even Shredded Wheat (!) and a Christmas ‘must have’ was a Charles Buchan annual but now it seems unless you raise a mortgage to buy a Panini rip-off you’ll never hear of anyone. Don’t forget, there was no football before the Premier League or Sky. 60s sound proper shit 70s weren’t great🙄

I honestly think the glory days for the human race were over and done with shortly after us born in the 80's were old enough to walk and talk. Without meaning to sound doom and gloom, what we have to look forward to now is overpopulation, deterioration of our habitat and an ever worsening rigged system in terms of the man on the streets ability to accrue genuine wealth. Some would argue the above has always been the case, the difference now is we are all aware of what's going on. There is no burying our heads in the sand and/or governments misleading us since the invention of the internet. Maybe I'm having a midlife crisis, maybe I need the get my arse back overseas, or maybe I just need to be reassured that QPR will win a game of football again in my lifetime. Actually perhaps all 3 of these things are true. Fuck it..... I'm off down the pub!

This post is so true 70s and 80s we were free to do whatever we wanted never thought about Blm or Covid or Politics etc just what time match of the day started on saturday Flying off on holiday with no where to stay in magaluf / greece , clubbing 24hrs a day on mopeds being chased by the locals. Life was so simple then not materialistic like it is now , how much you earn / wot car you got bollocks No one cared , people where a lot more caring and friendly then , people asked how you were and actually meant it. i would never swap my growing up in 80s for anything now life was a lot less stress and great fun. Mondays - Jacksons Nightclub Staines Thursday - Galleon / Cricketers - Chertsey Friday - Thames Court / Chertsey Lock Saturday - Rangers / Pantiles or Ragamuffins Camberley Sunday - Belvadere - Ascot Back to work on Monday to pay for your new Borg Fila or Sergio Tacchini tracksuit top for football the next week and as many snakebite and blacks as possible.

Must admit I’m an 80’s kid & despite the fact we had nothing I have overwhelming feelings of being happy. Everything seemed ok and as little money as we had, I didn’t seem to want for anything. Now life just seems hard. So much badness and hassle in the world. You need to earn £50-60k just to keep your head above water. Don’t start me on these gender freaks. Lunatics running the asylum comes to mind.

I know it's a bit of nostalgia and all generations thorughout time I am sure have said the same, but honestly I think the world is fucked now. So many issues everywhere, you can't say anything without offending somebody, everybody crazes attention & thinks their opinion matters (personally think social media is both the best & the worst thing to happen to us, it certainly brings out the worst in people).
I sound like a right grumpy old fuck dont I ha

personally don't care what pronouns or whatever people want to call themselves, its entirely up to them and i support their right to self determination. maybe its because i'm part of the LGBT community myself, i know trans people and they've all struggled with body autonomy so i have some sympathy towards them.
at the end of the day what someone wants to be doesn't really affect anyone. live and let live.

If only we all accepted that, there wouldn't be any issues with this, but some people just can't help themselves. And that's on both sides of the equation.

And that's on both sides of the equation. for sure, my dad (lovely bloke) is a bit like that. he's adopted more of those outlandish trumpistesque views as he's gotten older. loves referring to people as snowflakes but then gets riled up by things considered out of the norm. he's a weird one though, gets annoyed by trans stuff and global warming but is a big supporter of refugees lol.

That's the point for me. I totally agree with you but identifying as something does not make you that. That's where I have an issue I'll be honest. These people, MP's etc who are scared to define what a woman is where the problem lies for me. Biological men competing in woman's sports, ruining people's dreams etc all so someone isn't offended is madness. If I want to identify as a frog that is my right. Doesn't make me Kermit though does it. We need boundaries but, as Matty said everyone is offended these days. A dose of reality seems too much for many people I'm afraid.
