FOLLOWING fantastic dialogue with hundreds of supporters, we are delighted to confirm we will be putting plans in place to provide additional acknowledgement of the impact certain individuals had on QPR.This will see the Ellerslie Road Stand renamed as The Stanley Bowles Stand while a Legends Stand will be created in the Loft. We are pleased to announce this today - 24th December - on Bowles's 73rd birthday. QPR CEO Lee Hoos said: “Since the creation of The Forever R’s Club in 2016, we have built up an excellent reputation in the game for how we celebrate and engage with our former players. “Our ex-players’ association is something that we are very proud of, and I know our supporters share in that pride. “Our club ambassador Andy Sinton has worked tirelessly to build the Forever R’s Club into the success that it is, and there are now 115 inductees.” Regarding additional acknowledgement of certain individuals, Hoos said: “The conversation about how we can honour particular players is one that has gone on for a number of years. “It is an emotive subject and my stance has always been the same – my role as CEO is not to decide whether something like this should happen, it is to canvas as much opinion as possible so that it is the fans who make the decision. “After all, it is your club. “Through engagement with a variety of fans which included meetings, online surveys and stadium surveys, we took on board lots of different views from supporters. “With a topic such as this, you are never going to get a unanimous vote but one largely common theme did shine through – Stan Bowles should be honoured while a number of other former players also deserve special recognition. “We believe we have achieved this with the decision to rename the Ellerslie Road Stand as The Stanley Bowles Stand, and also introducing a Legends Stand.” Hoos added: “While this took longer than I would have liked to resolve this, I hope it further demonstrates that we are a club that listens to its supporters and that all supporters can unify behind these initiatives. “I make no secret that my aim is to protect as much money as I can for the first-team budget, so supporter contribution for this initiative is going to be critical to its implementation. “This has been a fan-led initiative. While the club will be helping to facilitate the fundraising for the cost of the changes, this will still need to be financed as a fan-based initiative. “Any funds raised beyond the costs incurred will be donated to The No.10 Foundation.” What is The No.10 Foundation? Learn more here: www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/the-qpr-no10-foundation/The Stanley Bowles StandThe Ellerslie Road Stand will be renamed The Stanley Bowles Stand. The Legends StandThe names and imagery of QPR legends will be added to the Loft Stand. We have agreed a small working group comprising of fans and club representatives to agree the exact details, the budget required, an implementation plan and the choice of legends. All supporters will be kept fully informed of progress made. We will need the input of fans to help with the funding and to also ensure that what is planned is in line with what the majority of QPR fans want.More details will follow in 2022. www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/recognising-our-former-players-241221/

Instead of pissing about paying lip service to folk, why don’t they hurry up and find new ground. Then they can name the stands bars bogs the fracking lot. Bah humbug

Not quite sure how this legends stand will look but it's a good gesture to follow the work they do looking after ex-players at the club.

Still the Ellerslie for me. But what's with the Stanley. Everyone called him Stan. He's Stan Bowles. It isn't Robert fucking Charlton or Charles George or Gerald Francis, is it? Donald Masson? Phillip Parkes?

Stanley does scan better, Stan Bowles stand sounds odd. Not particularly bothered either way - would much prefer the NEW Rangers Stadium🤔

Also it's fan funded.
Phase One - £6,804 ‘The Stanley Bowles Stand’ letters to be placed on front fascia of the current Ellerslie Road Stand.
Drop the ley it'll be cheaper. I'll chip in to keep it called the Ellerslie.

Funding for this is slow, to say the least.
Buckets going out at the next game.

Think that might reflect that it was a small group who obsessed over this and it really was not a big issue or priority for many fans
I sit ellersie and I really cannot see myself referring to stan Bowles stand same way I never called it Alfred mcalpine when it was called that.

Totally agree. Better off doing it if we ever get a new stadium.

Dunno why we bother renaming the stands, the stadium or anything else that's been called something for longer than any of us have been around. It's still gonna be Ellersie Road to virtually every QPR fan. Just as the stadium is still Loftus Road to most of us.

i think its a nice gesture tbh. yeah, we'll all be calling it the ellerslie road stand and upper loft but lots of fans have been calling for some kind of recognition for stan. guys like me never saw stan play and the most i can do is watch highlights of him on youtube, even then there's not too much of him.
stan isn't a household name outside of QPR, older non QPR fans remember him for sure but younger fans who don't support QPR probably won't know who he is. i for example don't have any idea who coventry, swansea or birmingham's best ever player is.
naming a stand after stan gives him a bit of limelight to live on and find a new audience among younger fans who might not have heard of him.

Good post. As a kid in the 60s I knew a lot of 50s players because we collected cards in gum or even Shredded Wheat (!) and a Christmas ‘must have’ was a Charles Buchan annual but now it seems unless you raise a mortgage to buy a Panini rip-off you’ll never hear of anyone. Don’t forget, there was no football before the Premier League or Sky.
