Think it's a sensible one, but I think it does get rid if the myth that we are a young team. He's a holding player with experience so he'll be a good back up for Field. Dozzell, Amos, Johansen aren't players that just sit. And he's a huge upgrade on Ball. Whilst I don't think its a weak position that we have positioned, it does add more quality to the team. I would question the word ‘quality’. I confess to not having seen him much, but to be bought for £10m and then bought by another Premier League team to me shows he is a half decent player.

Probably not the best possible signing but much more useful than some Ben Haim or Benayoun were.

Here’s a thought then, if he’s on loan and we don’t go up we’ll keep him ☹️ mate, i don't think the question is about whether we'll make the playoffs. its about whether we can survive. i wouldn't be surprised to see bookies giving us 3000/1 odds to make the playoffs after hendrick's signing Yes, he’s one for the future if the future is not going up. If we don’t get the cash injection of promotion we will have to sell our best players, two of whom happen to be midfielders. Great that it keeps the club safe but anyone who thinks we’ll be riding high again is being unrealistic. I keep thinking of Hoos saying it costs £8m just to run the stadium so who knows how much for the players and staff.

Amazes me how opinion changes. We’ve gone from ‘how many more midfielders do we need?’ and ‘our strikers are shit’ to being pleased about adding yet another midfielder and not too worried about scoring because Dykes had a decent game for the first time in months.

Tbf I didn't think we needed another striker. I think Gray is good enough, and I think between the 3 of them there are enough goals there. My worry was the supply line and reading about Hendrick, he is more of an attacking player which is more what we needed.

Facking horrible player to watch. Shyte for Ireland and has done nothing for Newcastle. With Amos who can play a forward role like he has in the past two games, then we have chair, why make this pointless signing. We were doing so well signing the wolves lad and Marshall, then warbs. Pulls this turd out. What we really needed was a striker ffs. Anyway, this signing spells the end for georginho. Isn't it about time you started to trust Warbs Hits?

I would love to see Sinclair Armstrong get a chance in the cup now. I assume Hendrick can also play in that match.

is he an attacking midfielder or a holding one? he's played everywhere in the midfield tbh. but he mainly plays in the field/amos role. gets about a bit, likes long shots and has a decent pass on him. not very technically gifted like chair and willock but still comfortable on the ball. if he can replicate his derby and early burnley days then he'll be a great addition but if he's anything like his newcastle days then we may as well just play with 10 men.

Tbf a jack of all trades is what we don't need. Be good if he would either sit and break up play, like Field. Or be more attacking, just behind the striker looking to slip balls in. Got Johansen, Amos, Dozzell already who do a bit of everything.

Never been a fan but he'll push Sam Field for competition in the middle.
If I can remember rightly he has a proper shot on him hasn't he ? Could be a useful addition to be honest....got to trust Warbs.

I honestly don’t know enough about him to judge
Only thing I really recall is he likes shoot from outside box which is probably area we need improve on

Pointless signing. Is no better than what we have. A position that we don’t need to strengthen.
Our subs today consisted of 4 midfielders and one defender. Clearly we are short on strikers so why did we not sign one.
