I don't like these sort of posts. Can't blame the club every time we don't spot a decent young player available for a transfer. Who knows what the story was on how Russell or anyone else was handled by the agent and clubs involved.
Of course, if we knew the club were given the opportunity to sign him and passed it up, that would be fair grounds to have a dig.

If we picked up every youth Chelsea spurs or arsenal let go we would have 15 new players a season

Luke Plange was released by Fulham earlier this season, we took him on trial and let him go.
He went to Derby got his opportunity in the first team and recently earned himself a transfer to a premier league club for £1m+ transfer fee.
Think he scored both goals last night on loan back at Derby.
Could it seem to be careless that he was allowed to slip through our net ?
Maybe the same could be said for not re-signing Josh Bowler when he was a free agent this season ?

Plange is a fair one to complain about if we had him on trial mate. These things do happen though. Eze had been around half the clubs in London before we gave him a chance.
Not so much Bowler though. Don't rate him and he couldn't get away from us to warm Everton's bench quick enough first time round.

Bowler was reportedly subject to bids from Forest in the last window whilst at Blackpool.

All these players might not fit our club however good they be. Might not be right pos, physically too light or too strong. Same with speed. Might not fit our style of play

Might not fit our style of play True, but hard to swallow when you see them doing things we don’t do. More to do with money I reckon. I bet some of them are on ridiculous salaries in the Prem. |

lol it happens, we've picked up a fair few people discarded by other clubs that have gone on to have varying degrees of success with us over the last few years. look at the likes of grant hall, jimmy dunne, seny dieng, joe lumley and eze as prime examples of our scouting success.
sometimes people slip through the net and there's not much that can be done. lots of clubs rejected eze until we took a punt on him, there's no guarantee that 'x' player would have been a success here.

Also like it or not our track record with regards to younger players passing through our system is not that good. |
