I'm not convinced this is the announcement of Beale's Assistant Corbs. Banfield is also referred to as an "Assistant Coach".

Banfield is also referred to as an "Assistant Coach". good point. was banfield's official title assistant coach? i remember him being brought in as first team coach by warbs but idk if there's been a reshuffling of roles after beale's appointment as head coach rather than manager

This is the confusing thing about referring to the Manager as "Head Coach". What do you call his Assistant? "Assistant Head Coach" I'd assume. Whereas Banfield and Matthew have been referred to as joint "Assistant Coaches".
All I'm saying is there is some grey area there, and nowhere in that article does it conclusively confirm that this is the final coaching set up.

Listing to MW's pre-match interview for tonight, interesting to hear him refer to Neil Banfield as responsible for working on our defence along with GK coach Gavin Ward. So we've had one all along apparently 😅 but obviously doing a better job these days. Also said John Eustace works more on the attacking side, (along with Matt Gardiner presumably). I pasted this (badly)from another thread with the title Defensive Coach It’s known that MB likes the approach of 3 coaches working with the first team to concentrate individually on defence, midfield and attack.

Sparks, one of his 3 coaches he moment is a goalkeeping coach. With that in mind, maybe there is still 1 vacancy?

Which would explain this set up. Could just be journo talk though. Banfield / Ward working on defence? Jury very much out on that one.

I can’t remember which video he said he preferred 3 individual first team coaches for different areas of the team but it’s mentioned in this article. As far as I can recall he likes to personally coach the attacking part of the session. Im also discounting the goal keeping coach as one of the three coaches as I believe they are generally trained separately. elite.deelysportscience.com/football/talking-coaching-with-michael-beale-by-ross-bennett/

How important are coaches really? How many players really improve? You look at our set pieces over the last few seasons and you'd think we didn't practice them.

Interesting Stan. Obviously trying to keep things as lean as possible from the outset.
You certainly can't argue with the calibre of these 3 guys, all have operated with quite a lot of success in some of the biggest clubs in the world. Where we are rolling the dice a bit is with regards to experience working with and/or leading 1st environments. All of these guys have spent much of their career working with Youth/U21/U23 set-ups.

Coaches are important as long as they're capable of actually doing their job. This clearly hasn't always been the case for us and maybe about to change. For the better.

if my experience from the football manager games are anything to go by then beale is overburdening his staff with a heavy work load. he needs to bring in a couple of all rounder coaches to lighten the load a bit, i recommend damien duff and darren huckerby as neither of them ask for big wages ad their all round attributes are pretty good.
listen to me beale. afterall, i did win the uefa cup with my sutton team so i know what i'm talking about.
