I’m prepared to cut Taylor some slack and reserve judgment till next season. After all how many on here have had their best mate stabbed to death? Who knows what impact that’s had on his mental state? All I know is it’s a pretty cheap deal and from what I have seen of him I was quite impressed. It’s the clubs job now to get him straight and get him playing. The deal was in place before the event highlighted above. They haven’t turned round and given his a 3 year deal based on his contribution this season, it was already done prior (which is very risky but understandable based on past performances and cost). Get him up and running and there’s a player, trouble is the back room staff at rangers don’t know their arsehole from their earhole. That’s my only concern with this

I’m not by any means one of the hang ‘em and flog brigade who dismiss mental health problems, but at the same time - come on. My dad died and I had to work the next day. I get being off for a few weeks. But a whole season isn’t grieving - it’s going off the rails

Remains to be seen I suppose

Just a thought.

we all know there's a very talented player in there and he could easily play at a much higher level. brighton tend to be good at scouting players and they splashed 2.5m on him a few years back. the eel was also very high on him.
he's only 22 and could come back raring to go with some genuine pressure free time off during the summer. i'm happy with the signing personally.

He could be very talented and possibly a game changer but worryingly even Beale failed to get a tune out of him even before his injury or in mourning for his friend.
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he was the catalyst for Critchley complaining about players not training properly.
Where does he fit in with Ainsworth playing 442 because I don’t see it all.

I personally don’t think it’s anything to do with him losing friend as this was going on before that happened.
Hopefully it’s something we can work with him on so he’s the very least an option off the bench.

Some sort of clairty on this would be good, especially for the player as I am sure there's a good reason for his absence.
Tricky one this one, from a club point of view. Loan to a perm was a way to get around the FFP I imagine, which I am fine with. 3 year deal I am also fine with. 2 year is daft and 4 year is too long. If he tore it up and was on a 2 year deal then the club would get pelters for this as well.
I am sure (or I bloody hope!) due diligence was done and the absence was unexpected rather than a gamble. He's looked tidy when he has played so hopefully with a pre season, we'll see him properly next year.

Hopefully it’s something we can work with him on so he’s the very least an option off the bench. It`s quite clear that one factor was that he was injured when he came to us I . Then struggled to find fitness throughout . Anyway: His situation sums up the story of our season really - Let`s hope the next will be better for him and for us.

Either way I maintain WLS are remiss in not pushing the club for some form of an explanation. The lack of transparency only worsens the situation.

I can only assume the story might be this.
We signed him on loan with an obligation to buy if we stay up. We started the season well and he played bit parts getting up to speed. During the season his friend was murdered and managers decided not to play him whilst he recovered from his loss.
Once he was fit we were in a relegation dog fight. The club madly thought that if we don’t play him and get relegated we were no longer obligated to buy. So we sat in limbo, unaware of our future divisionally and too scared to play him.
Purely guess work on my behalf.

TBH, I doubt the club even htought about relegation at the time of signing him.

Surely no club would chose going down to avoid signing a player that’s just Barmy even by our standards.
I suspect there is something underlying which we never done our homework properly on or underestimated and it’s bit us on the arse.

Samba MK2 Could be that if he played a certain number of games and we stayed up it would trigger a bonus in his contract? Club scared that as we weren’t going up and that he’d played so few games up to that point, that it might be better to avoid the bonus? Just guesswork.

Again, all just guesswork and conjecture. Level with the fans that pay your wages, instead of patronising them. As said, opacity only makes matters worse.

I don’t think it’s down to the player to clarify this. Has to be the club. Which as has been standard this season, been pretty shit in their communication of situations about players eg injuries.

dobbo gave some info on richards during the last podcast towards the rs end bit. basically it sounds like richards isn't buying into our new philosophy and needs to wake up to reality rather than thinking this is beneath him.

No real loss tbh Apart from the wages we’re wasting on him. Don’t you get sacked if you don’t want to do your job? Outrageous that he should be stealing a living.
