I don’t know how to post a photo on the forum using an iPad to carry on this thread so I’m going to cheat and ask a question instead. What Rs keeper had the unusual habit of half volleying the ball into play after collecting the ball in his hands ? Well done bill..Mike Kelly was the first keeper I can remember playing for the Rs.
Does anyone else remember how he skilfully kicked the ball on the half volley ? of course was replaced by big Phil Parkes( what a keeper he was)

Does anyone else remember how he skilfully kicked the ball on the half volley ? of course was replaced by big Phil Parkes( what a keeper he was) Mike Kelly was noted for always rearranging his tackle after any diving saves etc. and it is rumoured that when the players all turned up for a team photo before one season that they all stripped off, put on the new kit and lined up on the benches/ floor etc for the photo and the one chose for the official team picture was sent to the printers. The order came back from the printers ready for distribution and someone at the club noticed that there was an inch or two of Mike Kelly cock showing under his shorts so the picture had to be redone. |

Think he came out of retirement to play for us in a testimonial..Tony Currie somehow ended up in the left back spot near R block where we were sitting..he sprayed a cross field pass the full length of the pitch to one of our players then lifted up his right boot and kissed it as if to say “I still got it”
