If you’re winning, team spirit is great. If not, see wheels fall off and talk about divisions in the camp. We’ve seen it before on both sides. Also, I’m not sure the long ball style works nowadays. Might get you the odd good result, but football has moved on. My son plays reasonable level, played against some academies and football is all passing, movement and pace. There’s little to no “hoof ball”. Everyone is encouraged to play it out and retain possession. There must be a reason for this. For me this hoof ball, 20% possession is something for 20 years ago. Need to move on and stay with the times. Having said all that, if Im proved wrong, then I’ll be delighted. Leicester won the premier league with only 42% average possession over the whole season. It can be done. 42% is a lot different to 20%. I wouldn’t say that Leicester side was a long ball side either

Very true James. But last season was last season. Ainsworth took over a losing side with a few players that didn't want to be here and a squad that was put together with a totally different system of play in mind. I don't genuinely believe it reflects how we will play in the coming season. Of course, it's going to be more direct than we are used to in recent years, but I believe we'll have a much better game plan after a proper preseason with Ainsworth in charge.

Back, sack or crack? That made me laugh, Alan 😂 But in reality, what are these amateurs gonna do now? They've appointed a manager who is not only a bit crap, but also... dare I say it.... a bit thick? I mean who does he think he's fooling with all this sub-Olly "we're all in it together, get behind the lads, fight for the badge stuff?" It's all very well in a kind of Ted Lasso drama, but in reality, the 'Idiot's Guide to Motivational Management' by Gareth Ainsworth doesn't replace genuine managerial acuity and tactical nous. I gotta be honest, when I listen to Gaz talking, I'm kind of imagining it's David Brent. Anyway, if the owners had the cojones and the money to back themselves, they'd sack him pronto and get in someone who actually knows what they're doing. Ain't gonna happen though, is it? They'll stick with him until his position becomes untenable. Or, if you're still wearing rose-tinted glasses, then I'm talking bollocks and it's all gonna come good in the end.
Amen, thank you, good night.

David Brent😂 No, not much point running through walls when the opposition can bend it over the top of one. More to it than guts and effort.

Few names being circulated on Twitter no one nee but people you would probably be interested in if there was a vacancy.
Horrible feeling but I actually don’t think I care anymore this club has finished me off. Usually can’t wait for start of season if they said it’s put off three months I would not be bothered.

Depressing.
I think he'll last until around November where we're hovering around the bottom 3

i'm still in the backing camp. i don't put much weight on preseason personally. yes, we lost 5-0 yesterday and put in a terrible performance but we've also lost to boreham wood, drawn 3-3 with crawley after being 3-0 up, beat man utd 4-2 and beaten union berlin 3-0. no result was reflective of ours or their seasons tbh so its not really a big deal to me.
i'm a happy clapper but i'm not stupid, there are massive holes in the team and big depth problems so i hope the club wake up a bit and decide to splash a little bit of cash.

If he wants save himself or give himself a chance he needs to get chair/Willock more involved. They are currently playing as wide forwards/wingers but that’s not their game. They both plsy better when they are close to each other.
I would play them as narrow front three behind Dykes so they can play off each other. But too do that you need reliable WB.

part of the reason why i think kakay would be good as a CM is it'd give us some balance and legs in midfield.
you could easily do a 4321 kind of thing with a few additions.
begovic new rb dunne fox paal kakay field richards willock chair dykes
richards played as a CM earlier in his career but moving kakay to CM not only brings energy, pressing but also cover for when richards pushes further up, almost like a gundogan sort of role for richards. kakay is not good enough to be a proper RB.

Kakay would be like a ticking bomb at CB he is shite. Would give away a pen a game if he’s defending in the box non stop.
He should have been moved on but we’re so thin in the squad not only does he stay but arguably he’s a starter.

Kakay`s lack of positional sense will be a problem. Not saying it`s not going to work, but we desperately need a new midfielder to partner Field. Gape could be an option, but to lightweight in my opinion.

Nice rangers boy or not, he’s not good enough. The fact he’s our first choice right back is terrifying

Another youth team player we’re clinging to desperate hope he’s good enough for 2nd tier of English football

They can't splash any cash. They need to make massive cuts this season to avoid a FFP fine. It was always going to be an incredibly tough season. But having Ainsworth in charge makes it very nearly impossible

No wonder Chair and WIllock have downed tools Whilst I agree that they should be played closer together it doesn’t give them an excuse to down tools. Says everything about a persons character if they behave like that. They know we need them and they probably want moves and to further their careers. Chairs free kick that can’t even clear a fucking wall and willock lazily strolling around are prime examples of them simply not giving anything close to something that’s acceptable. It’s doing neither of them, or us, any favours
