What got me was the view from so many fans that as he played for us he had earned the opportunity to manage us and I’m still shocked the owners bought into that opinion. Wildly unsuitable for the role in every measure and once he got Haka Dave in if I was owners at that point I would have thought this is not going to work and started looking for replacement. We all know that the board panicked. We were on a huge losing run, fans not happy with signings etc. Critchley didn't work so they went against their own football ideas to bring in a fans favourite, to buy them some time. Backfired spectacularly though and since then the board has changed, football operations changed and obviously the manager. Board and the fans. As Acton and James said above the fans were demanding it. And as the board are largely clueless, they often follow the fans in these situations.

Not just fans to be fair, on paper he was the sort of guy we were right to look at. He’d been decent at Wycombe and they would have had a second season in the Champ if it hadn’t been for Derby cheating. Massive surprise to see just how bad he was and a mystery how he kept Wycombe more or less successful for a decade. No, not defending him. I didn’t want him but I thought he’d be much better than he turned out.

Done well at Wycombe don’t make him even close to being right or appropriate for QPR.

No record of developing players, no record of making a club money from transfer fees, no record of playing the passing football that we had built a squad to deliver, no evidence of any tactical ability, no real record of success in the Championship, no record of managing players like Willock and Chair, no knowledge of continental football or record of any fresh thinking, literally don't see anything in his cv to say he would be a good long-term fit. Plus he just looked and sounded a joke. I could have just about understood it if it was always a short term fix to fire the squad up to avoid relegation that season, but because he was already in a job we had to take him on with a long deal plus all his backroom team which was always chucking money we couldn't afford down the toilet. This is not hindsight as a few of said before the appointment he was always going to be a very poor man's Ian Holloway, and we were done with all that.

Why are we still talking about El Trampo? He did my bleedin nut in, almost drained the will to live out of me, and I was praying he'd be gone, long, long before he finally got the tin tack.
But I do have to hold my hand up and say I was one of those mugs who thought he could do a job. And I really believed this right up until, oh, I don't know, about 5 games into his tenure, when I realised to my horror, that he was far, far from the Wild Thing messiah I had deluded myself into believing in, and that in fact, he was a complete and utter idiot.

Why are we still talking about El Trampo? My thought too. Don't get the interest tbh as we've moved on so much since then. And I bear him no ill will, nice guy just out of his depth, who you could in no way blame for taking the job as he was offered it. But think we've been over all that a million times now, so see no benefit in regurgitating it.

I was thinking that Dobson and Ainsworth completed each other. Dobson talked a good game; but obviously I was wrong.

Gaz is apparently favourite for the Stevenage job, following Steve Evans' departure for Rotherham.
They're currently 9th in League One (and 9 points ahead of Wycombe).

POSSIBLY Málaga CF bound (Spanish third tier)
I heard it through the (musical) grapevine.
His wife's Venezuelan so makes sense. Certainly beats British weather!

"¿Acabamos de jugar contra los campeones de liga?" (Have we just played the league Champions?)
"Así se hace el Haka." (This is how you do the Haka.)
