So refreshing to see Sheff Utd and Blackburn serious about both. Good game to watch too. Winning is a habit and playing is better than training they say.

Think we’re proving this season it’s league that matters. Cup is side distraction which we never needed. Cant keep this shower fit for the league nor are we competitive in the league without add on games in competitions were not going to win.

How's that working out?
I think we should always give it our best shot in cup games. Especially when we're extremely unlikely to get promoted. And if we're going to get relegated, well, a cup run will at least give us something to cheer about. Being shit in the cups and shit in the leagues is not exactly a good look.

You think this fragile squad mentally and physically could handle runs in the cup. We can’t put a proper side out as it is.
Don’t think many fans would have opted for a decent cup run but relegation end of season. You got pick your battles, until we get a deep squad which can handle more than one competition then I say fuck the cup, but I accept that’s a personal choice.
Would love cup runs if we had the squad for it but we have not for years.

Is they done a cup for championship clubs which there was a realistic chance of winning that might intrigue me a bit more but the cup for us and everyone else outside prem is just about getting big draw to make money. No more no less.

I like the cups Doc but we’re not going win it in championship so personally would not invest any great resource to it or risk injury.
Big draw and tick off nee away ground. That’s all it means to me currently.

But by the same token the further you progress the more you generate even from the non-plum ties; as well as increasing your chances of landing a plum and more profitable tie.

Did Hoos not say League cup games actually end up costing us money in early rounds when only two stands are open.

It's not just about the gate money, it's also about the prize fund and the TV money.
Prize money per round:
Third round proper winners £82,000 Fourth round proper winners £90,000 Fifth round proper winners £180,000 Quarter-final winners £360,000 Semi-final winners £900,000 Semi-final losers £450,000 Final runners-up £900,000 Final winners £1,800,000
And this is if you appear live on TV:
FA Cup rounds Live - Live replay 1st round £67,500 £33,750 2nd round £72,000 £40,000 3rd round £144,000 £72,000 4th round £144,000 £72,000 5th round £247,500 £123,750 6th round £247,500 £123,750
Surely that should be a decent incentive for beating Fleetwood?

Hubs I get it I just personally don’t think the gain is worth the risk but that’s me.
Given we always go out early we’re not missing out on much dough 😂
