It is clear as day that there will be a monumental task over the summer to have a playing squad in place for the new season.
With the 6 players out of contract most likely to be gone, along with freeman......... what positions and realistic players could we attract?
gone
bidwell, cusions, pav, hall, lynch, wells, hemed,
Sell freeman, luongo, ingram, wheeler,
my starting 11 would be..........
------------new keeper------------- furlong---bfg----new cb-----new lb ---------scowen---new dm------- bright---------eze----------smyth-- ------------new striker--------------
bench: lumley, hamelinen, new cb, shodipo, chair, oteh, big lump.

Realistically just look at a list of out of contract players lower Championship and Div 1 and make your selection from that list. There is a few hundred to choose from.

Lumley will be our first choice keeper next season. He hasn’t done to bad this hear - I believe he has one of the best clean sheets in the league and clubs like Bristol City are looking at him!!
I think we have some decent foundations to work with next season -
Lumley
new rb/ furlong Hall/furlong leinster new lb
cameron scowen/Manning
Smyth Chair/Eze BOS
Smith
We need new full backs both sides, maybe one more winger, a experienced CDM/CM and a striker.
I would keep Hall, Cameron and Rangel for next season. I certainly think Hall and Cameron could play their parts much more than this season.
Matt Smith could lead the line next year and I believe he can score 12-15 goals.
I’m excited to see if the next manager has the balls to play Smyth, Eze or Chair and BOS at the same time. I genuinely think they will cause problems for teams next season.

Priority is to sort defence out. Shift on Lynch possibly bids and identify a partner for Toni and done at left back who can defend plus get forward.
Always build from the back. Think midfield were reasonably ok
Need someone who can stick ball in net too

Someone that can be somewhat of a mentor for Lumley, whilst also giving him genuine competition for the starting 11.

lumley furlong leistner ajay manning luongo vaulks chair/smyth eze bos new striker
i think everyone who's out of contract will be off along with freeman for around 7m i reckon. i like the look of ajay and vaulks from rotherham and combined they probably won't cost more than 5m imo, both players were pretty good this season. would love ben pearson from preston too but i doubt that'll happen.

We definitely won't have 5m to spend on transfer fees this window, even if Freeman does fetch 7m (which he won't). Expect free transfers, small nominal fees and loans only for incoming players.

Bristol City are interested in Lumley according to his agent who wants a new contract for him. Although he did alright for clean sheets we still managed to concede 71 goals.

Doubt Rangel or Cameron will be here next season. All those out of contract will be gone too I think. Freeman will be gone, but Luongo might stay. So, using solely those remaining in the squad, my 1st 11 would be something like:
Dieng (Lumley)
Furlong Leistner Manning
Scowen Luongo
BOS Chair Shodipo
Eze/Smyth
Smith
( I like having an Eze Chair in the team!)

Honestly, I don't see us paying any significant transfer fees this summer. I think a lot of sides in the Championship will be in the same boat too.

Classy from Rangel.
Perhaps whoever the new boss is might consider keeping him on a Player-Coach arrangement? It certainly seems he's a strong leader who reads the game very well defensively.

Great example for the youngsters and no doubt good about the dressing room, but you need players that are going to be fit week in, week out. Especially when funds are tight. We definitely can't afford as big a squad next year!

Dieng started off well for Dundee but was very poor in quite a few games. Lumley miles better than him. Dundee lost last 10 in a row.

Why do people want to keep Cameron when he is costing £15k on a subsidised loan or do they think he is going to accept 66% less wages. Why do we need Rangel as coach when we have loads already?

What are we looking at now? Think Warburton likes 4-2-3-1
so maybe
Lumley
Furlong BFG Barbet Wallace
Scowen Amos
BOS Eze Chair
New Striker
If Luongo is still here, then he will start. Scowen might be ahead of one of the new loans as side would be very inexperienced without.
