I see people walking around all the time in football shirts does that make them fans / supporters if they don't go to games . Where I'm from there are hundreds probably thousands of Chelsea fans that never go to games , are they really fans.

Think we need to agree on our definition of "biggest" first before drawing up these lists.

how many QPR fans are there i wonder? there's gotta be anywhere between 40k-50k worldwide.
we took something like 35-40k to wembley but you'd imagine a few thousand of those weren't QPR fans and where there with mates.

Fan bases ,well those that go owdays have dropped at a lot of clubs. The cost, way we work, other leisure activities have all contributed. When we was younger our choices for entertainment were a fraction of whats available nowdays. Kids just have other things to care about.

At carnival every cunt has some version of an Arsenal top on. Few QPR 💪🏽 My son and I took the Wembley Stadium tour this summer. I repped the QPR gear and people were letting me have it. The tour guide included. Not a word to the Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City jerseys folks were wearing. Just me Come to find out, they have photos of almost every FA cup final except for the one we were in! How's that for hierarchy!

When I get WhatsApp alerts from QPR it is apparently sent to 40k odd people. Can this be right? If so, are there a lot more people interested in our club than maybe we realise?

Interesting question but my view is that clubs such as QPR are community clubs with real links to their fans even when some (like me) uproot and leave the country for different reasons.
The big 6 in the PL may claim to have hundreds of thousands of fans around the world but I bet many just claim to be fans because they like to be associated with a top club, buy the shirt and call themselves a fan - until the club has a few bad seasons and they fall away. Of course there are exceptions such as Liverpool that seem able to combine both approaches.
Whether you have to attend the games to be a fan is pet hate of mine. I would rate myself as one of the clubs biggest fans but have not been to a live match in years.
Why? Age, mobility and location and cost. For ne to watch a Saturday game I would need to leave home Friday lunchtime, drive to the local airport and park, fly to Heathrow arriving late Friday evening and get to a hotel by taxi and get some food and drink. Saturday get to the ground and back probably by taxi and spend Saturday night in the hotel with food and drink. Then Sunday get back to Heathrow by taxi , before the late evening flight home pay the parking then drive home arriving at 10-00pm. Total cost for me and the wife (who would insist on coming although she hates football) would be between 1,200 and 1,500 euro and 3 more days to recover. So sadly live feeds are the closest I get (when they are no blocked by Sky.)
So when some idiot says I am not a real fan because I do not go to matches I get a bit bent out of shape especially after 67 years as a fan, seeing them play at well over 100 different away grounds and following them around Europe in the heady days of UEFA Cup. Anyone else in Athens to see Dave Webb's missed penalty. that put us out 10-9?
Just letting off steam out of frustration so ignore all that.
