Often thought - and remember posting - that should have been our approach with them re the FFP sanction. There was a school of thought at the time that the EFL interpretation of FFP was fundamentally anti competitive and constituted a restraint of trade vs EU and GB law.
We never, ever, play smart.
Thanks for posting this one, I've worked in investigative journalism, it takes a lot of time and a lot of money which is why we see so little of it these days.

The combination of dysfunctional FFP, parachute payments, and the fit and proper persons debacle ia a toxic mix.
They all feed into each other. You can get rid / massively de regulate FFP, you can tighten up due diligence around buy outs and take overs, but there has to be a workable system for top down distribution of rights money.
The threat of regulation prompted a new deal between the EPL and EFL under which chute payments would continue but some £450m would go to EFL clubs for distribution acrosss the board.
The effect of all this should mean that financially prudent EFL clubs - ie emphatically not us - will be able to spend more without contravening FFP.
Be very interesting to see what that does to the market.
