Yeah, ok Tarbs that makes sense but the anomaly for me that still exists at our level is that the DOF dictates a style and brings in players and when it doesn’t work it’s the coach’s fault.

Yeah, that bit is a bit grey isn't it Al?
I personally don't think the DoF has really being dictating style of play at QPR though. As I've told you face to face, I really don't think Les was doing much at all by the end of his time here in fact, other than chatting bollocks to the media and going to corporate golf days. The Manager has always carried the responsibility for the style of play etc. here.
The traditional DoF model where a style and ethos is established and "Coaches" up and down the age groups are asked to adhere to the core principals I think works far better at the bigger clubs. I see the benefit of that type of application of the DoF model. It means that you don't have to make wholesale changes if a managerial change is required. In reality, a club like us is always going to need to tailor a semi-skimmed version of the DoF role.

You can’t base DOF model on what we have done as we have never properly implemented it. It’s DOF in name only.

If the Dof was allowed to do his job properly without interference from the board, then I think it's a good thing in having one. Our lot just can't resist meddling tho,as proved by Amit bringing Ainsworth in

What the fuck is wrong with these idiots. That's not to say that they should have left the decisions to Les, because he didn’t fill me with confidence in any way either. If they wanted to employ a Dof, they should have hired a proper one, instead of a newbie, and put their trust in him.

Tarbs, when Warnock signed Derry, Hill, Taarabt, Kenny, Routledge, Mackie, Smith, Orr, they would surely all have had agents to deal with?

Football agents have been poisoning the game since Eric hall in the 90s
Be more surprised if player never had agent then did from that period onwards.

I'm sure they had agents mate, but I'm also sure that Warnock did far more negotiating with players and involment in contractual agreements than Managers do these days. Like I said above, these players began their career in an era where agents were less prominent. I'll give you an example, I watched Luke Chadwick on the Undr the Cosh Podcast and he never had an agent at Man Utd. He negotiated his first pro contract directly with Alex Ferguson. Apparently Gary Neville operated as a mediator for lots of the young players for their first contracts. That type of thing would never happen today in the top couple of divisions.

A DOF should have a phillosphy and build the club around that.
We have been talking about buying cheap, selling on, using youth and playing football on the deck at all levels. Perfect. The only problem, is our DOF didn't actually know how to make this happen.
We have failed in the transfer market in general, not done well with youth and have no hired a manager who doesn't play football on the deck.
A competent DOF will hire managers with due diligence (tbf, we did that with Beale and it was working to a point). Critchley should have worked but he had tremendous injuries to work with. But then panicked and went for a fans favorite without following the same way of thinking.
What would happen then, is the managers will all play in a similar way so if a manager wanted to bring in his own player (or coaches), it shouldn't be a problem as they'll fit right in anyway.
Whereas now, if we bring in Ainsworth men, they'll be more suited to up and at them style. Then if we sack him and change tactics again, those players might not fit in anymore.

thats my biggest concern tbh sponge. if gaz can adapt to the team and tweak our playstyle then great, richard dobson has said more than once that he'd love for us to play attractive football.
the next DOF is a crucial appointment for sure.

Manager identifies players, CEO / Board deal with money and agents. Simple. No need for a DoF IMO How'd that work out between 2011 and 2014 mate? Works with decent owners rather than narcissists who treat the club like fantasy football

I'm on the fence.
Don't think financially we can afford one nor do we need one as we will be shopping in the basement bargain bin but at the same time the thought of Hoos & Ainsworth alone picking players is also a very grim thought.

The way I see it, a good DOF will pay for itself many times over. They'll sign players that actually make us a profit and they hire managers that other clubs want to pay us for.

If we had owners who had a fucking clue, I would say no dof.
But because we have the clowns that we do, we need someone with a bit of sense.
So, will vote yes.

Part one. AI response from Bard Should Queens Park Rangers FC appoint a Director Of Football? Whether or not Queens Park Rangers FC should appoint a Director of Football is a complex question with no easy answer. There are pros and cons to both approaches. Pros of appointing a Director of Football: A Director of Football can provide long-term strategic planning and vision for the club. They can help to identify and recruit talented players and coaches. They can help to create a positive and cohesive environment at the club. Cons of appointing a Director of Football: It can be expensive to hire a qualified Director of Football. There is a risk that the Director of Football will not be able to work effectively with the head coach. There is a risk that the Director of Football will become too powerful and undermine the authority of the head coach. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to appoint a Director of Football is a matter for the board of QPR FC. They will need to weigh the pros and cons carefully before making a decision. In my opinion, QPR FC would benefit from appointing a Director of Football. The club has been struggling in recent years and needs someone with a clear vision for the future. A Director of Football could provide that vision and help to turn the club around. However, it is important to find the right person for the job. The Director of Football needs to be someone who is respected by the players and coaches, and who has a proven track record of success. If QPR FC can find the right person, then appointing a Director of Football could be a wise move. Part 2 Who should Queens Park Rangers FC appoint as Director Of Football? There are a number of qualified candidates who could be considered for the position of Director of Football at QPR FC. Here are a few suggestions: 1) Les Ferdinand: Ferdinand is a former QPR player and the club's former Director of Football. He has a wealth of experience in the game and is well-respected by the fans. 2) David Webb: Webb is another former QPR player who has a successful track record in management. He has worked as a Director of Football at a number of clubs, including Crystal Palace and Birmingham City. 3)Craig Shakespeare: Shakespeare is a former Leicester City manager who has a good understanding of the Championship. He is also a qualified coach and has experience working in the Premier League. 4)Paul Mitchell: Mitchell is a highly-respected football scout and executive who has worked at a number of top clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton. He is known for his ability to identify and recruit talented players. Ultimately, the decision of who to appoint as Director of Football is a matter for the board of QPR FC. They will need to consider the candidates' qualifications, experience, and fit for the club before making a decision. Here are some other factors that the board may want to consider when making their decision: The candidate's vision for the club's future. The candidate's ability to work effectively with the head coach. The candidate's ability to build a strong relationship with the fans. Artificial Intelligence...... Perhaps not Les though neither David Webb as IMO too old so an easy decision between Paul & Craig.... haha or possibly not.

Where’s Nigel Adkins these days? Was decent manager and a qualified physio if I remember - would be well qualified to be a DOF and sort out our injury/ fitness issues.
