Had a chat with a Chelsea supporter the other and got into a chat about truly big European Football clubs and I got down to the following.
Real Barcelona Ajax Bayern Man Utd Liverpool Juventus Inter AC Milan Celtic Rangers
All of the above was based on history and fanbase and not on wealth or as a team now.
Does anyone have abyone else?

i'd take out rangers, celtic and ajax tbh. massive in their countries but not really anywhere else just like how the likes of the main greek and turkish clubs are huge in their countries. not really sure on inter either as you don't really see many of their shirts about.
chelsea and arsenal are certainly massive clubs. lots of support over here and across the globe. one of my best mates is polish and a massive chelsea fan and always said that chelsea, madrid and bayern were probably the biggest foreign clubs in poland.
dortmond possibly could be in the mix as they're a favourite of the hipster football fan lol.
i think PSG are starting to get to that level too as they're fairly big in africa and the ME.

I think Arsenal make the list Not by 73's yardstick as historically they've won next to nothing on the European stage. Even Spurs have a better record than them in that regard.

Celtic and Rangers worldwide are massive football clubs and they are far bigger in fanbase terms than most of the EPL teams. Not about wealth or recent performances it is about history and clubs as institutions. Celtic were the first british team to win the European Cup so are in the bracket of such a club.

PSG. No chance, Take out Ajax with the history of producing top quality players and a style of play which Guardiola was educated with. Celtic and Rangers not big anywhere but their own country is inaccurate as those two worldwide are massive.

No denying that at all 73, just saying would you not include Benfica by same yardstick?

The issue we have in the modern game is all driven by wealth so depending on where you play dictates on how big you are perceived to be.

Corbray. Domestic fanbase yes. Do you realise how big worldwide the Old Firm are? Dortmund outside of Germany not in the same league. Marseille? Upto around 10 to 15 years ago there were more branches of supporters worldwide of Glasgow Rangers than any other team in the world. Celtic as I mentioned were the first British team to win the Europen Cup before Liverpool and United who are the giants of the English game.

It's similar to calling Chelsea "Chelsea London".... the in laws were quick to point this out to me when I used to refer to them as Sporting Lisbon lol
