This bloke has to be let go in the summer, 1st and 3rd goals were both from low crosses on his side of the field which makes me think he lacks basic awareness and the ability to smell danger. Last week against Bristol City same thing lets a left footed player get onto his left to equalise. In the attacking third he offers nothing and puts the brakes on the moment he hits the half way line which does the team no favours when attacking. For an experienced player he seems completely oblivious to basic old school defending.

Get frustrations with him but he million times better then he was last season. Because he’s not pacey seems to stand off his man a lot so not to get out run

Worries me. Certainly not as described upon his arrival.
Although, the rest of the defence or the way we seem to go about things aren’t helping him.

When you got the lumbering Lynch and Bidwell both on the left it’s a pretty weak side of the defence

Stopping crosses are schoolboy stuff yet every game he backs off and the ball ends up in the danger zone. At times he has been average but overall he has been woeful. His only saving grace is lynch plays next to him so his mistakes are not as obvious.

That left side of our defence is so inadequate. Lynch is back to his old liability self after that random (yet appreciated!) spell in Sept-Nov when we were keeping clean sheets for fun.

Lynch is liability and his performances for seasons have dictated our results. As you say him playing well coincided with us playing well he’s dropped off and he pulls those around him down too He’s been weak link for three seasons but Ned got the blame do Lynch got away with murder. Once his contract is run down get shot

Not sure why Hall was dropped. I thought he played really well against Watford. Hopefully Lynch last night wakes Schteve up and Hall gets back in the 11.

We do seem to concede an awful lot of goals from that side.

All quite similar goals as well. We are very poor defensively especially with Lynch and Bidwell side by side. When Cameron and Angel are fit I would Furlong inside and play with Cousins and Cameron protecting the back four as right now that is what needs addressing.

Just as I thought I'd seen the last of him and Manning making the position his own
Oh well

Is the suggestion that he'll be staying because he previously played for Warburton at Brentford?
From what I've heard, we have an option to extend his contract at 16k a week. This figure is way above the average salary we'll be paying next season, and I don't believe there is much appetite to keep him at the club unless he wants to take a significant drop.

Manning not the LB answer

Manning not the LB answer I think Manning might actually have the attributes to play left back myself. I also don't actually think he's good enough a footballer to play central midfield at this level. What he probably needs at this stage of his career is to know what his position on the pitch is, and to work hard on his development in that position. That said, I wouldn't want to go into next season with our only options at left back being Manning and Hamalainen. If Bidwell is definitely leaving then we need to sign an experienced left back in the summer.

16k a week for bidwell. That is awful value and no wonder they want to move him on.

16k a week for bidwell. That is awful value and no wonder they want to move him on. On a par with the other top earners at the club mate. Pav will be on similar, Luongo and Freeman possibly even more than that! Don't think we'll be handing out too many contracts like that moving forward!

Due to clubs like Stoke retaining their players on EPL salaries, and others like Villa & Forest who have high wage bills, the average salary in the Championship for the season just ended is approximately £25k per week. At QPR it is reported to be less than £10k per week with an elite few on £12-15k per week. I was talking to four of the U23's before the Forest game and they informed me that all their players are on hundreds of pounds and not thousands like some clubs. I was also told that Eze's improved contract this season was approx £2700-£3000 a week. Great money but the sort of wedge that will attract the players that the fans want to see bought. Forest paid £13.3m for Joao Carvalho and depending on which source you read his salary is £50k-£80k a week. Astonishing figures when you consider they also bought Lewis Grabban and Figuerido to the club. Look where that got them in the table.

So the board learned a lesson from early days? 16 a week for a bang average left back is a real shock to me.

All I heard was that was the number for the option to extend his contract by a year. I wasn't surprised to hear that number though. I'm sure Freeman's contract extension wouldn't have happened if he isn't at least on a par with that. 16k a week is a middle of the road salary in the Championship. The likes of Forest, Boro, Villa, West Brom etc have players on 2 or 3 times that amount!

Bidwell is probably talking himself out of a contract at QPR if he expects 16k per year.
I don’t mind Bidwell as he’s solid enough at this level and if we could reach a deal with Warburton coming in I’d be pretty happy to retain him!

Clause in his initial contract mate. 3 years with an option of a 4th at an agreed salary. I think people forget how highly rated he was when we signed him 3 years ago. Unfortunately he ain't really kicked on, and the landscape in terms of earnings at Championship level has changed a bit too!

Highly rated by who? Did we outbid anyone for Bidwelldini? Release as not worth anything more than 5 a week and that is based on his performnces over 3 seasons.

That's a load of shite to be fair mate. Decent youth at Everton, very highly rated at Brentford and came to us with much fanfare! Edit: Wasn't a free either, cost us a few million quid I think.

Not shite Tarbie he has been a woeful signing especially if you are accurate in him costing us a few million. A bang average player over 3 consecutive seasons and I cannot remember one outstanding game for us since he joined us. Penalties given away, inability to stop crosses which is a basic job of any full back. If he is a 16k a week footballer then it is no wonder so many clubs go under due to shit players being overpaid.

But we ain't talking about how good or bad a player he's been for us mate (and to be honest, he's nowhere near as bad as your making out). We are talking about what he is getting paid. The terms of his initial 3 years deal, as well as the option to extend for a 4th year were agreed upon when we signed Bidwell in 2016. At that point he'd just come off 2 great seasons with Brentford and his stock was very high.
If you want to dig the club out, dig them out for not ensuring that players like Bidwell, Cousins etc. reach their full potential. You can't dig them out (with the benefit of hindsight) for contracts that were agreed on 3 years ago. As I say 15k a week is really a middle of the road Championship salary which Bidwell would have got at whichever club he chose to join in 2016.
