Considering our position over the last 3 or 4 years I would say he was very poor value at that price. Both in cost and performances.

Doesn't mean we were wrong to offer him what we did at the time. He looked a very good prospect. The club can't win mate. If they don't offer competitive salaries fans will be on their case for not doing enough to bring the players in that we need. When we do pay competitive salaries and it doesn't work out, they take stick for that too. |

I think part of the problem with bidwell is we were asking him to play a role he is not capable of playing because he don’t have the pace to recover
He’s no flying wing back and even when he does get forward he can’t really cross so were exposing him asking him get forward do something he can’t do which leaves him open in defence.
Think if you just said to him concentrate on defending we would see far better player but can you afford, in today’s modern game, a FB who simply sits half way line???

Occasionally he puts in some excellent crosses, but just not consistently. Bang average LB at this level. Not great, not poor.
His strengths are his tackling, and has been superb at that at times, where he's prevented definite goals.
I recall him winning a couple of MOTM polls too since he's been with us. He's just not consistently good but would say he rarely puts in a below 5/10 performance.

Interestingly Lee Wallace is being linked on a free from Rangers as he was one of the most used players under Warburton up there. He has more quality going forward so maybe a half decent alternative.

Think people are pretty harsh on Bidwell. Hes a solid 6.5/7 every single week and is a decent member of the first 11 and certainly squad.
As Tabie has said the 16k per week is the issue and tbh I imagine that is the going rate for an average and experienced championship player nowadays. He played his best football under Warburton I believe so maybe there's a deal to be done.
The reality though is many clubs from the championship will be looking to sign him and he can probably get better wages due to no fee being paid.

It's possible that much of the yawning chasm of space immediately in front of me (P block) for 45 mins every other week is caused by his necessity to cover for the swinging door that is Joel Lynch
He is also occaisionaly capable of some last-gasp recovery tackles, or decent crosses from deep
But that's it - for 16 large a week ? Not good enough
Surely to goodness there's a young LB out there with pace and desire to make a name for himself ?
I'm not expecting Roberto Carlos, but I want a Willo (or at the very least a Gino)

Thought he was just as good as Jack Robinson at LB personally. Jack Robinson was a much better CB imo. Not to slate Bidwell, I didn't actually think he was that bad. Good going forward, good crosser, maybe a bit weak defensively. |

He was well received with a round of applause and one thundercunt in R block booing. At the end of the game he came over to applaud the R's fans and took his time doing so. Classy. He also had a good game for the Swans.

One or two booed in X block but in general there was nothing. I think he set up their 3rd as well which is annoying.

We applauded him and he applauded us. Good, hardworking and unshowy pro. Solid six out of ten each and every game. Given he left when we didn't renew his contract, you'd have to be some kind of nut job to boo him, wouldn't you?
