Mixed it up. Some long ball, some nice passing moves. I’m more than ok with that. Thought Richards started sluggish with a heavy touch but grew into it. Willock and chair look lively, gubbins hasn’t had much to worry about but looks composed on the ball.

Just home.
As expected for a pre season game it was like watching paint dry.
Highlights:
Begovic with a couple of very good saves and clearly commands his area well and came for collected his crosses with ease.
Dykes took his goal well.
Willock showed some lovely touches and play at times.
90% of the game was as boring as dish water.
Need bodies in massively as this squad will get mullered over a season. Can see us relying on half the youngsters who came on today.

First half, we played some nice football.
In one sequence, we done some brilliant short, quick passing which almost ended with a willock goal but for some last ditch defending.
Second half was utter dog shit.
It was gazball in all its glory.
Aimless balls, players running around but going nowhere.
Chair still not looking up before he passes a ball.
Drewe has no concept of positioning.
Dozzel is still utter turd.
Positives from today,
Willock is looking good and his confidence seems to be up.
Gubbins is looking a very good cb for the future.
He desperately needs a loan this season to a league 1 club.
Taylor richards was my man of the match.
He was absolutely class in that half.

first half i thought we played very well, albeit from my poor view right in the corner of the pitch.
we were attacking, got a lot of crosses in and look a much more direct team compared to last season. if this is how we play next season i'll be a happy boy.
second half was boring as piss though. we lack some real serious depth thats for sure and need to bring in 5 or so more players to be ready - assuming we don't sell anyone of course.
i'm still itching for kakay to be moved to CM. he looks out of place as a RB.

Sat a couple of rows away from the dugout today. GA didn’t stop shouting instructions from the first minute to the last. It’s clear from what I saw and heard that he wants us to get the ball forward early. And he was encouraging the wide players to get the ball into the box early too. Hardly hoofball, more a case of working with what you have at your disposal. We definitely need strengthening though, otherwise it will be a long hard season.

Desperately need another striker as Kelman looked well short of standard too. And not someone in Martin ilk someone with bit of pace who knows where the goal is.

Dozzell just doesn't give us anything. He's not a tough tackler, doesn't thread passes or play the strikers in, doesn't bind the midfield together or push others on. He just... runs about. Really not a player I want to see starting for us.

Dieng, & Johansen are no losses because they were both very average for me. Dickie is a loss albeit him not being a world beater but quality wise we are very short. I don't think, Kelman, the fella from Fulham or Paul Smyth will do anything to improve us. The big loss for me is Tim. I'd love to get him back, Laird I'd have like to have gone in for too, especially at the £500k rumoured that Brum paid for him. Looking at our squad, Adomah, Kelman, Armstrong, Kaykay, Archer, Dozzell, Dykes (goal wise) Drewe, Dixon-Bonner, Smyth to name but a few is really poor. |

Too many balls to Sinclair when he had his back to goal yesterday. He’s not that sort of player and it was bread and butter for their defenders. If he’s to have any chance of showing what he might be capable of he needs through balls or balls to his feet allowing him to drive at defenders. He might never cut it for us but if he’s utilised like he was yesterday it’s guaranteed he won’t cut it and will be a complete waste of a shirt.
