Too many balls to Sinclair when he had his back to goal yesterday. He’s not that sort of player and it was bread and butter for their defenders. If he’s to have any chance of showing what he might be capable of he needs through balls or balls to his feet allowing him to drive at defenders. He might never cut it for us but if he’s utilised like he was yesterday it’s guaranteed he won’t cut it and will be a complete waste of a shirt. You make a good point Itso, but there were two occasions second half where he was put in with a run on goal and only one defender nearby and twice he chose to ping it out wide rather than turn and go. I’ve not agreed with Westy about him up to now but I’m beginning to think he’s right. Lots of power and aggression is great but is he a footballer?

My Dons supporting mate didn’t think much of him, other than the usual “he’s a unit but not particularly effective” view.

Don’t want to get too negative about yesterday but Joe Walsh didn’t fill me with great optimism either. A couple of things he did were worrying, not least throwing the ball straight out of play😁 Definitely lacked concentration - possibly as bored as the rest of us second half.

I did hear on the grapevine they are working hard on his positioning as he uses too much energy running into the wrong positions as opposed to placing himself in the right places beforehand.

Problem is I don't think Jordan Archer is much if any better.

Good to hear. He has the build, unlike some of our other players but definitely needs to work on his footballing brain.

He also done that last season in league. One of the things we keep hearing as one of Armstrong strengths is his strength and build. That for me should mean he can/should be able to play back to goal. I personally don’t think he’s a forward, at best he perhaps a wide player in the McLean mould.

I remember seeing him against Birmingham (I think) last season when he skinned their left back a few times after coming on as a sub. If he could replicate that regularly then he’d be more of a handful. Agree though, he’s not an out an out striker and clearly his decision making isn’t where it needs to be either which needs to be addressed if he’s to have any chance of making it as a championship player. Playing back to goal isn’t just about strength though, it requires a bit of savvy and he looks like he’s more headless chicken at the moment.
