Have we ever had a first window with no movement in or out?

Have we ever had a first window with no movement in or out? Rendall to the mighty Eastleigh. Won't be good on here and elsewhere if it doesn't go well tomorrow.

Can you still sign unattached players after the deadline? Bet Chris Martin rears his head again

Can you still sign unattached players after the deadline? Bet Chris Martin rears his head again Pretty sure you can, yeah. Like others though, I can't fucking believe we're still having this bullshit lack of strikers. That's 3 windows in a row. Unreal.

Surely every scout is called in after this window and told each of you find two or three strikers to be considered for January if you dont look for another job.

Yes, but will they be given that chance? Are they any good? Also, ideally you should bring a youngster in when the team is doing ok not when we’re desperate for one to come good immediately. That’s what’s happened with Armstrong. No time to settle in, need instant success.

You cannot go into this season with Dykes and Armstrong only as your strikers. The Ipswich game highlighted that and it was not fair on them young lads to be brought on to battle their centre halves. Our recruitment team as a rule are lazy and poor as their are gems out there not just in this country but other countries too but when did we last find one that was then sold on? Eze was under Holloway at Millwall so not too much work needed with that one. I get the financial side of things but surely that should mean good players are moved on when at their highest value to allow us to reinvest again. Our problem is we keep them too long and the value goes down Dickie being an example of that.

I agree with your point about ideally introducing youngsters into a stable team but it’s a very low bar to say that any of the names I mentioned ‘will not’ be an upgrade on Dykes. I recognise its early days but it’s not difficult to see marked improvements already this season in U21/U18 results, this could be down to players be more motivated due to seeing clear pathways to first team involvement and of course the new training ground environment. How will we ever know if they are good enough if they are not given an opportunity?

It looks like we now have a new plan, or project, in place - Project Pathway.
