It’s a very close call for me to choose between Rodneee who was more of an individual player and Stanleee who’s more of a team player but it’s not hard to think that Stan had more quality players around him.
Rodney imo had a bigger cult following with the fans in my time but his era was slightly soured for me with the saga surrounding Gerry Francis leaving.

Marsh was something different when he came on the scene at Rangers - we’d only just left the days of toecap boots and here was a footballer not a clogger. I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure Foolham got rid because he was a lightweight and had problems with his balance. Deaf in one ear or something? Marsh set the pattern for what Rs fans have wanted to see on the pitch ever since. Forget DOFs setting out the ethos of a club. Marsh did it nearly 60 years ago.

I recorded Rodney on my phone telling a great story in the forever r’s bar on Saturday. I cannot for the life of me, know how to upload it on here.
I tried to do it through add attachments but it limits me to 1mb
I have a total of 5mins footage.
He is mainly talking about the 67 league cup and the road to the final.

Yeah sorry, I thought it was audio which would have been easier. But if Hits has a YouTube account that would be the simplest way.

I'm not old enough to have seen either Rodney or Stan play so can't comment on that.
However, Rodney was the catalyst for the great adventure this club went on from 1966 to 1996. Of course, that's just fate and it could have been someone else but it was Marsh who it fell upon. I believe he should have had a stand named after him before Stan.

Disagree he should have a stand named after him - didn’t give a monkey’s about us once he moved to City.

I personally don't think what he thought about QPR after he left matters to be completely honest. We all have an emotional attachment to the club as fans - some more than others and often to unhealthy levels - but to most players it is just a job and their engagement is with personal goals (pardon the unintentional pun) and the money going into their bank account. Marsh came in, did his job and in the process of doing so changed the course of the club. To me that is all that matters.

We put Marsh on the map as much as he put us on the map. Stan never bad mouthed us after he left. We can forgive Marsh that with passage of time but it still puts him behind Stan in terms of respect for the club.

As the interviewer said in his video Marsh is very active on Twitter, sometimes talks about us but more so Man City.
I don’t know if Marsh was paid to show up to nudge Gerry Francis to leave as I don’t remember hearing the full story behind it, suffice to say Francis left and Marsh’s appointment was cancelled.
Stan was was fully deserving of having a stand named after him and would tend to agree Rodney falls short of that.

I think he talks a lot about Man City in a desperate attempt to change the narrative about him costing them the title in 1972. I recently read the decent 'Forever Boys' by James Lawton which is about Man City in that era and it is very obvious that most former players interviewed some 40+ years after that still blame Allison pushing for Marsh as the reason why what was clearly a great team didn't go on to achieve great things. Also, there will be more interest in talking about City than QPR on a global social media platform and, of course, more 'opportunities' arising from doing so. The Francis situation was strange but I, personally, would place more blame on Thompson than Rodney. The latter simply took a phone call and although he may not have asked all the right questions was within his rights to take up a potential job offer. Thompson, of course, was also within his rights to change the hierarchical structure of the club but, it is likely, didn't involve Gerry Francis in the process or explain what was going to happen before the media found out. I've read on a few occasions that Rodney 'spoke negatively' about QPR after he left but is this a case of some fans simply not agreeing with what he has said and, as a consequence, judging him for not harbouring the same thoughts as they have? It is a common theme among sections of all fanbases for football and a much wider array of interests that a set of 'gospel opinions' form and anyone questioning/going against these is a heretic. Is this the case here?
