Going to Sunderland? Really? If he intends to go to them of all clubs in the world after what happened with us and Beale, I give up.

If he under say another 2 years contract, just refuse them permission to talk to him. He just resign and he can’t go elsewhere unless we agree. Is that not what Jordan done with Dowie at Palace Suppose cutting off nose to spite face as you got manager your paying who is not doing job. Personally don’t think he will go

Personally don’t think he will go don't see him leaving either tbh. sunderland have issues with their owner and don't exactly have a glittering squad, it would be a very sideways move at this stage. as for resigning to take the job, no, he can't simply do that. football contracts are ironclad to the point that marti would have to either leave by mutual consent or buy/have his contract bought out.

According to skybet he’s favourite for Sunderland and 4th favourite for Burnley. Maybe he’s after both jobs? If he’s interviewed, and he doesn’t get it, I’d sack him. Need some loyalty.

Club need to make a statement about this to clarify the situation imo.
Kill the rumours stone dead.
So much for improving relations between fanbase and board.
If none of these rumours are true kill it now.

Interested to know where this ‘resigned’ info has come from. All I’ve seen is the click bait FLW story which they have been regurgitating for days but nothing on actual resignation.

Polski, I think the following post is what has confused people. He hasn't resigned. What Bill meant below is "he'll just resign" in response to gtleighs post above it. Hope that clears up the confusion. If he under say another 2 years contract, just refuse them permission to talk to him.

We’re talking about a cultured Spaniard, who’s only just got his family settled in/around London. Going to that shite hole of a place, with well documented issues at boardroom level, no chance. Not in a million years will he go there. Strikes me as a bloke that backs himself so he’ll know a good start to the season with us will open the door to far more appealing opportunities.
If he was to go there it would beg the question, how dire must our situation be. If I end up with egg on my face after saying all this I’ll be too broken hearted to even notice😆

If none of these rumours are true kill it now. Why should the club say anything, Bill? He’s under contract at Rangers. Not really anything to be said unless he has asked to go, which I very much doubt would be the case. Could kill his managerial career in England stone dead if he walked away and failed.

You are 100% correct on this. I think things will calm down from week when we hopefully see a few new recruits coming in with a joint Martí handshake photo. I do sometimes think that although football is just running a business and yes, why should they say anything about the manager but equally, I do think they forget if a main part of that business’s income is from loyal paying fans then they should put something out especially when they are trying to promote season ticket sales. Just my opinion.

If he was 20/1 does statement have to come out? If not what odds trigger a statement. If he’s linked with another job next week do we need release another statement where does it end? The need and hunger from fans to demand information on everything club related is reaching new levels. Statement even if released means nothing as Beale proved. Relax guys

I’d be truly disappointed if it’s only a million pound compensation price set. Rohl apparently is at least 6

If it means nothing what is the problem?

Why to clarify the clubs position and if it means nothing like another poster stated, what is the problem. Good comms and emphasisies the clubs position. Say nothing and the media will push and push. Also in the build up to a new season where i was hoping for a more professional approach it would seem obvious to steady the ship for all concerned, board, players, staff and last but not least the paying public.

Under contract means didly squat in football and if he failed a)that is his gamble b)there are plenty of other jobs in football worldwide not just England.

Martí has been brilliant for us, no doubt, but he's not the only good manager in the world. Don't think we'll see another lazy managerial appointment with Nourry around, and trust him to help unearth another gem.
I'd rather see us keep Martí for at least another season though.
