First interview is now up. Like a breath of fresh air, watching that. Gone from 90 yard punts, emptying the tank and possession can do one, to this. Thank fuck someone finally woke up and appointed a proper manager/coach.

Encouraging ethos and ideas - implies there may not only be a Plan A, but also Plans B, C, D etc…. Impressive English - will be good for communicating with the players. Seems to have more credibility than Ainsworth - can’t see him bringing in the Hakka guy (maybe running with the bulls of Pamplona). 41 years old - and he’s been coaching for 20 of those! Have to say that, before a ball is kicked, I’m impressed and optimistic. He spoke about deep laying fullbacks, inverted wingers and allowing a em to join the attack. I bet ainsworth has never even heard of an inverted nipple, never mind wingers. Will never forget when thicko can on the screen, having lost a match with 10 men, he said “I have never practiced / trained to play out a match having a man sent off before. What an absolute twat.

Interesting the analyst seems to be the main man showing him about when he’s a newbie himself.

Interesting Marti and Hoos both said “finally”…..this has clearly been a guy we’ve been trying to get for some time.

Assuming every fucker is fit. A big assumption.
Begovic Cannon Cook Fox Paal Colbeck Field Willock Chair Smyth Kelman
No Dykes. Ever. Chair up the middle, not wasted on a wing. Willock given three games to shape up and put in an effort. Kelman given a run of games.

Willock injury free will change our fortunes. Hopefully Shania. If he doesn’t show willing within the first handful of games under the new regime he shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the training ground, let alone pitch.

Really refreshing hearing him talk. Wants the ball but not just banging it from CB to CB. Talks about players having fun and he watched the games so he wants to enjoy watching us.
Obviously needs to back it up but positive start in my eyes. Made me excited.

I was thinking, this is great news for someone like Ryan Kolli - a player I'm already excited about - I think Marti can bring out the best in him and make him shine.

Thank fuck someone finally woke up and appointed a proper manager/coach. Just caught up with this. Night and day from Gareth Ainsworth. One of the most coherent managers we've had in years. In theory best of both worlds - technical, possession based football but also attacking and not just passing it between the centre halves. If anyone can get the Illie and Willie show back on track it could be this guy. But boy does he need a good start. He says players always try harder for a new manager, found myself mumbling "that's what Critchley and Ainsworth assumed..."

I really really like him. Even the little details like how he watched us at Lotus Road when Paolo Sousa was in charge, shows he knows about the club.

Cannot get enough of marti. He really is a breath of fresh air. I really really like him. Even the little details like how he watched us at Lotus Road when Paolo Sousa was in charge, shows he knows about the club. Agree with all these comments. The other thing I'd add is he comes across as sincere. Different to Beale in that regard when he first arrived. You could sense there was something not quite as genuine about his personality, which later revealed itself in the mercenary way he treated us. Marti's seems much more of a decent human being and you get the impression if he was to achieve success with QPR and got a better offer from a bigger club, he would at least treat the club with integrity and handle it the right way (e.g. Eze). I note too his professionalism in respecting Ainsworth and not be in any way critical of his tenure in the face of leading questions from the journalists about that.

He comes across really well and seems a decent fella. He makes a big point of not mentioning or criticising the previous regime. Take a note Mr Ainsworth.

In one of his interviews yesterday he gave me the impression that it could be more than Xavi Calm. It got me wondering if the other could be the ex Hammarby DOF he successfully worked with in previous season. If not it would be very encouraging if he brought in a new foreign recruitment analyst. Maybe Shania or DK may know more.

There are a few immediate things which will give us a feel for who and what he is. Playing style, overall lack of confidence and apparent low morale, Willock seemingly uninterested, lack of goals for starters. Does he know another Gyokeres out there somewhere? Spanish loans maybe? January going to be important.

If he has been watching our better football, from the eels era surely he has to start with Willock & Chair today & yes I agree the Spanish way historically has always been ball possession and making space for yourself. Be interesting to see if he can implement that, not today as such but over the next 10-12 games.

Hope club had the nouse to send footage of when largely the same team was playing so much better. In recent years I think we have always been at our best with three at the back switching to a five when defending. But it took Warbs and the Eel a lot of painful shipped goals to learn that. We can’t afford 10 games of cheap, shit goals before he changes it up
