really good news that he's being kept on and it's good that the backroom staff is being sorted out sooner rather than later. no news on matt gardiner though, he was pretty highly rated by mcclaren so i reckon he'll be kept as well.
we're slowly heading in the right direction in regards to the backroom staff at the club.

Paul Morrissey @pjmorrissey77 MARK Warburton has confirmed his backroom team with the appointment of Neil Banfield as first-team coach, while John Eustace has been named assistant manager. Banfield joins from Glasgow Rangers, where he had been working as a scout after being brought to Ibrox six months ago by ‘Gers boss Steven Gerrard. Prior to that, Banfield spent more than 20 years at Arsenal. He joined the Gunners in 1997 as an academy coach and was promoted to the first-team staff in 2012 by Arsene Wenger. He left the Emirates last summer following Wenger’s exit. Warburton told www.qpr.co.uk“Neil is an outstanding coach. He has vital experience which is going to benefit everyone at the club, not just at first-team level but with the academy too. “Chris Ramsey oversees the academy and he has a wealth of experience as well so to have two individuals with that knowledge and talent will be great for QPR.” Eustace had been in charge of first-team affairs on a caretaker basis following Steve McClaren’s departure in April, and after confirming Eustace would become his assistant Warburton added: “I know John from my time at Watford. “I know the qualities he had as a player on the pitch but also the qualities he had off the pitch and what he brought to the dressing room. There is no doubt about his qualities as a character and his desire for the game. He has a passion to learn and when you speak to John that comes across very clearly. “He will be a very important member of the team.” Further announcements will be made in due course. www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/mark-warburton-adds-neil-banfield-to-backroom-team/

Glad we're keeping Eustace on. Made the best of a difficult situation and had us playing well in the end.

Good to see Eustace as Asst Manager leaving Banfield a more undefined role which will suit his skillset more.

This is a pretty impressive team we're putting together. At last it feels considered and built for the long term. It tells me the owners are still serious about this club and there is a viable future.

I certainly didn't say that or think that Ginge. I thought he might be a good manager, but I had a lot of doubts about him and the set up. Mainly I was just relieved Ollie had gone. This time I feel much more confident.

Good to see big Johnny Eustace get the Assistant manager job. Thought he did well to get a low on confidence squad fighting to stay up personally.

Fair play and nice to see good news at this shit time. I was intrigued that he mentioned Charlie Owens but not Amrit Bansal-McNulty or Joe Gubbins who, IMO, are looking like good prospects for our future.

Great interview, really encouraging. Highly recommend people read it. First time we've heard from Banfield in depth.

Very positive and I didn't know he had such a high pedigree. Our back room staff really are geared towards a bright future.

Which is why, now that Fernandes isn't really in the picture any more, I don't understand the hatred for Les & Hoos from QPR fans. They are doing a very good job IMO and the fruit of that work is starting to appear. It'll be around 8-10 years before we see any players who have been in the academy all their lives but the picking up of out of contract trainees and suchlike is standing us in good stead in the meantime.

Although this video was recorded a few weeks ago it was interesting to hear what Banfield says about last season and this coming season.
Only the first 5mins are QPR related and the rest on his career at Arsenal.

Interesting also that he said promotion had been targeted for 2022/23 season but the opportunity came a year early.

Thanks for posting that Sparks. Impressive interview. Be interesting to see if he's kept on. must give her credit, she did suggest we take a look at willock before we went and signed him. probably has a few good connections in the game. not overly fussed if she stasy or goes. hopefully, beale will focus on bringing an defensive coach into the club.
