Close to home, this one. I grew up in Kilburn and went to school round the corner from the old ground, on Christchurch Avenue (Malorees). Near where Alan grew up too and Hubs in more recent times. Ground on Salusbury Road by Queens Park.
Winston Churchill's father was patron. Sir Charles Dilke too, a Liberal MP whose career was ruined by womanising. My uncle Denis (Judd) is an historian (QPR fan too who still lives in Kensal Rise) and has written about him, especially in his Joseph Chamberlain biography:

I used to cut the grass and he marked the lines.

I was there and remember not even celebrating because I was laughing too hard at how he'd just taken the absolute piss. I did the same for his boxing day goal against Swansea the following season.

Best counter attack goal by QPR ever.
Wolves v Qpr mid 70,s.
3rd goal by Stan.
Parkes throw to Thomas down left wing cross to Bowles and Stan goes round keeper and scores.

We’ve been on the brink since the last relegation. It’s been asked many times, ‘why are they still here?’
