Worth it for the victory at Highbury against WBA alone wasn't it mate. So unlucky in the final replay as well. Out played Spurs.

Dead for the big clubs yes but QPR should be looking at getting as far as they can and earning as much out of being in it as they can. Until you reach the latter stages it isn't even as financially attractive as a televised game. Third Round Proper winners (32) £135,000 etc hang on a sec Esox, is that the media money alone? Because gate money matters if you get a big away draw. Nevertheless, I'm surprised the rights money is so paltry

Nevertheless, I'm surprised the rights money is so paltry That is the FA prize money hal, gate money is 50-50 (after policing and matchday costs are taken out I believe) so a game at home for us with tickets for a fiver isn't going to make anyone rich and is why the club close parts of the ground or it would be at a loss. Even a sell out at Old Trafford would only nett around £250-300k. Any teams with thoughts of getting promoted to the EPL, where the stupid money is, are not going to risk it all for a day out at Wembley. That only matters to the fans who have been following clubs for years where there has been little success.

Since 2000, Wigan & Portsmouth aside, only Arsenal, Chelsea, United Liverpool and Man City have won the cup. It’s a closed shop. Reckon if you go back another 20 years other then odd exception it’s those clubs above still winning it city removed.
It’s a competition which we have no chance in, like the rest of the clubs other then the above, which probably costs us more then we actually get out of it.
Would love a cup run but as said if we go out not fussed

So don't enter then. Be honest and we'll all know where we stand. Man U opted out some years back and I don't think they've made it compulsory since.

The 3rd Round of the FA Cup used to be one of the biggest days of the football calendar . The proper beginning of the best cup competition in existence.
I haven’t bothered going to a cup game since our club, along with nearly every other club, made it clear that they were pointless non events, with ridiculous team selections taking the piss out of loyal, paying fans.
I haven’t watched a final for a good 10 years now I think and couldn’t even begin to name who have won it in that time.
I must sound like a right miserable bastard. 😂

Sitting in SA Rd as most stands are shut as no interest.

Well I’m going tomorrow and we have not drawn a top side so not sure what your point is??
I think FA Cup has died and become pointless but I’m QPR fan first so when they play, whatever the tournament I will turn up and support them

So to a certain degree the FA cup still has some magic left. if it had appeal we would have more then two stands open Been watching them go round grounds on bt sport all of them , outside prem, have half ground shut. That never happened 20years ago you drew your regular gate Begs question why do prem sides turn up still but not really outside top flight?

Because they have a chance of silverware?
Maybe the draw needs to be rehashed in some way or a whole new aporoach to the competion.
This wont happen though cause the Fa Are antiquated, stubborn and stuck in a time warp,in other words full of old farts

simple solution, been saying this for years, get rid of 4th place in the prem and make the fa cup winners get a champions league qualifying place.

simple solution, been saying this for years, get rid of 4th place in the prem and make the fa cup winners get a champions league qualifying place. The problem is that its becoming rare for a team who hasn't already qualified for the Champions League to win the FA Cup. Its even rarer that a team who hasn't already qualified for any European football to win. The solution is to seed it or scrap it. Sad but true. said this other day. Only 5 clubs win FA Cup now. Whilst the prem is as rich as it is FA Cup won’t recover as prem sides will rest players in the hope it sees them avoid relegation and championship sides will rest players in hope they make play offs and go up

how you know 8k is break even point mate?? I think we will get like 6/7k I had a chat with someone at the club last season. The overheads and wages for matchday staff combined with the sharing of the gate reciepts means we have to get that much to guarantee a profit of £1 if we don't win and open up all stands. thats crazy. Surely sensible way would be to split what’s left after home side have covered costs of putting on the game.

If your around my age50,you should feel sad how disregarded the fa cup now is. When I grew up it didn't matter whom u played, ground be bust and buzzing and country came to standstill to watch final and all the build uo regardless of whom was playing and who u supported.

I love the cup.
Yes the media rights whoring situation has royally fucked it, but it does mean you get to see the kids going for it. That Jones kid up at Anfield, the touch on before the goal... No one can tell me those youngsters weren't giving it.
Plus, like I always say, a little run does big things for confidence. It still matters.
