A very interesting article. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48279772Fans seem to forget that their players are people too with the same range of emotions and fears as everyone else. It's one of the reasons I hate to hear players being loudly abused at games or see it in SM. Anyone who thinks that just because they earn a lot of money they can't have mental issues is a moron.

Quite right. Couldn't agree more, and those figures don't surprise me.

I read somewhere that 70 % in either norwegian or english football suffered from depressions and other mental issues. That`s an high percentage.

Even if they won´t wear a poppy? Why should someone get abused because they won't wear a poppy? You, obviously, wear a poppy but wars were fought so that people had the freedom to choose. I stand by my statement... unless it is Racist John

We have had players with mental health issues who perhaps we should have been more sympathetic towards
Caulker, Carlisle and Diakite jump to mind

Don't see why footballers with issues are any more worthy of dicussion than say insurance brokers with issues, in any population or demographic a certain % will have some kind of mental health issue. So what's new?
I am interested in players who have flaunted their instability, even used it to worry the opposition. Cantona is a good example. For us, Diakite used to go flying in (and out). I always thought Paddy Kenny was borderline nuts.
So who was our most floridly insane player? Let's celebrate crazy....

IMO, It is worth a mention because making someone a scapegoat can affect a young player, especially.

Barton clearly had some mental issues, or maybe it was just his special brand of twattery.
