Imagine a big international group takes us over, let’s say DHL. They can guarantee financial security - might even build us a new stadium - BUT they insist on the shirt being red with a yellow yoke in line with their corporate image. We might be able to get our traditional kit kept as the second strip. Would you stomach it? In fact, what would you accept in future? I couldn’t accept a merger or moving far away from our home. I’m from Queens Park, that’s why I’m here. The Hoops….? Maybe I would. And I hate red.

wouldn't like it tbh, clubs need to have their identity and the kit is a main part of that. that being said identities change and if we had that DHL kit for the next 30 years we'd probably adjust and accept it lol.

Our box to box play would surely improve.

I still hate sponsorship on the shirts. After forty years. Even Guinness. And hate squad numbers and names on the shirt. Advertising on the arms. Yuck. Only the kit maker and the crest. Nothing else.

I think the thread title should be renamed How scared are the hoops after today's debacle.

No. It was one of the main reasons I became a fan in the first place. It's integral to our identity and no amount of money would change that for me.

I have to admit I don't actually like hoops too much. Prefer stripes.

Yes, the original Supahoops from when the term was first coined in the press in the 70s, and no doubt part of our folklore, but would we really rather go bust than change strip? Just hypothetical, out of interest. I plucked DHL out of the air just because red and yellow is so different (it was a serious question😂) and, on balance, I’d rather look like a van driver in West London than play in Reading.

it depends tbh, when faced with that prospect then the kit change is a begrudging acceptance but it would be a big blow that would likely lose a fair few fans.
if the ownership model was more extreme ala red bull rangers then no fucking way. would rather us cease to exist, reform as a phoenix club and climb back up the leagues than have our entire identity purged and modled into something entirely different.

would we really rather go bust than change strip? Whether we went bust or not, I would lose interest in the club if we dropped the hoops as the two things are completely synonymous and interwoven with Queens Park Rangers FC. It's simply too integral to the club. Just my opinion but suspect it's shared by most, at least of Generation X and older.

Interesting. That happened years ago with Philips in Holland and never really took off. Looks like the big companies settled for sponsoring stadia rather than alienate football fans as you say. And it would I’m sure.

I wouldn’t like it but I would reluctantly accept it as I’m not ready to stop attending live games and there’s no way I’d have the passion for another team.
