We made it hard for ourselves by hoofing it the last 20 mins when with a bit more composure we could have seen the game out quite comfortably. But a lot of pressure and we showed character. Result all that matters. Even if we don't win another point Brum have to win both their remaining games for us to go down and Sheffield, Wednesday and Huddersfield would need to get some almighty wins.

Bit late with the subs imo. Yes exactly. Armstrong instead of Dykes on 60 all day long. Yeah. Hayden coming on earlier a no-brainer IMHO. Paal really dropped off towards the end of the season and would have brought on Fox earlier. And Armstrong does what Armstrong does which is useful when everyone is knackered. But no one should argue with what Marti has achieved. |

Two of the things I hope Marti can improve close season:
Following up when there's a shot on goal - how many would we have scored today?
More aggressive penalty appeals: first one probably unlikely to be given in the Champ but in the Prem that gets at least VAR-ed - their player falls on the ball in the penalty area and nudges it with his arm. Then second one blatant from Chair's cross, bloke sticking out his arm like he's hailing a cab. Some appeal for that but other teams would go mental.

In fairness to Asmir, he has had his critics this season (me included) but today he pulled off a great save early doors and was a million miles better than the flapper in the Preston goal. If I ever meet that Freddie will offer to buy him a drink...

Lol. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. It's largely down to him, and Ainsworth/ Les/ the PE teacher/ the board, who let us go into a season with only him up front, that we've had such a shit season. The keeper gave him the goal. He so wasn't anywhere near where the ball was played 😂🤣😂

Has the feel of our 2007 meeting with Cardiff, under John Gregory - also in late April, and also with us threatened by relegation. Walked to the ground from White City station with my (then) little lad, chatting to Neil (Lord) Kinnock, who was going to the game (though more of a Swansea fan).
