Personal thoughts are it’s bullshit.
This club leaks information like a sive so if we missed out on a alleged top striker we would know plus in the last ten years when have we ever looked like bringing in a decent striker let alone a top one.

If you had a scoop that a now highly thought of player/forward was missed out on due to tardy time keeping im pretty sure they would name the player at the very least is that not the point of the sports pages?

True, could be made up but you can’t be certain. Journos don’t always name names for fear of compromising their source for the future, and the libel laws if the info is secondhand. You can’t definitely say it’s not true in some form given the basket case this club has been in recent years. Also, the timeline for someone like Gyokeres fits as does the possibility of ‘a source’ close to the manager - maybe even MW himself - having a little bite back over the episode with Les. We’ll never know😁
