I think that happens with all clubs' fans. Ours are no different ITR. There's always a lunatic fringe and everyone knows that Twitter is a total toxic shit-fest. We've known forever that pro footballers engaging on that platform is simply asking for trouble.

In your experience Bill how would players such as Ball,Thomas ,Kakay and Dozzell react to being dropped completely from the first team picture ? especially seeing players like Austin and Gray retaining there places although clearly being unprofessional in there personal fitness.

Don’t think this Twitter stuff has caused the slump as it’s a reaction to it but it does baffle me that some fans think this kind of behaviour will in any way help. If anything it probably damages confidence and team spirit more. For eg I wonder if the Dykes “injury” might have been a convenient fiction to drop him?

Players being active on Twitter? As you say to some extent they bring it on themselves and if they bask in the adulation they need to realise it can work the other way. Personally I hate it for all the reasons you identify. But sadly it’s here to stay and players (like all public figures) feel obliged to have a social media profile. Ronaldo’s number of followers was said to be a prime factor in determining his transfer fee. Might seem crazy to us old timers but such is the way of modern marketing and branding.

For now but we'll see things change in time. Jack Dorsey's resignation is significant. The Frankenstein it's become is certainly far removed from his original vision. People are deserting FB in their droves too. Several alternative apps are emerging. First mover advantage and Metcalf's law don't last forever. Look at MySpace, Yahoo now, as examples. 

I would love it if you were right, but personally can't see it. True, lots of people are deserting FB but suspect huge numbers won't. Look at smoking - its been public knowledge for decades that it kills you, I lost both parents to cancer, yet I discovered the other day my teenage son has been having the odd fag. Maybe other Apps will be an improvement but I fear they will work in the same basic way of likes/ dislikes/ savage comments/ teenage girls desperate to show they are skinny/ beautiful etc. Anyone who has been on a QPR message board over the years will have seen examples of probably quite decent blokes in their other life morphing into keyboard warriors (reassuringly few of them on here but we could all name a few on the old place).

No idea if it was the Hendrix arrival, but it was an odd signing. Actually thought he was one of the better ones yesterday in a fairly modest team performance but wasn't convinced at the time by the signing. Smacked slightly of us not being able to get the player we wanted (the Swansea lad) so maybe we thought we'd bring someone in almost for the sake of it for a position we didn't really need.

I never saw Hendrix as that game changing player we needed and as such I would have preferred us to carry on developing our own younger players like Amos and Dozzell who either nail down a first team place or become assets we can sell on.
