Another example of a terribly ran club.

Quite sad to see this.
A big big European club who with 100 years of history, have now folded.
The modern game and media have destroyed our sport.

The only "good" news is that they have not folded completely yet. They were relegated to the French second division a couple of seasons ago and ran up debts of 90million according to the press. Liverpools owners (Fenway Sports) then tried to buy the club but that deal collapsed a couple of weeks ago so the French FA just demoted Bordeaux to the semi pro third division as without the sale to Liverpools owners they could not provide evidence of having the cash to complete the season in the second division.
So they have given up their pro status but will continue as an amateur/semi pro outfit and hope to rebuild but with their current debts that will be difficult unless a rich Saudi Prince comes along. But even to carry on in the lower league they have to present a new budget to show they can survive the season.
Sad news for a club with a great history. Makes me wonder how many English clubs would go the same way if the PL and EFL were as tough as the French authorities when dealing with clubs in breach of their financial rules.
No player names I recognise that we would want but there could one in there somewhere.

Here's the opposite of a bankrupt football club: Royal Bedford. As I'm a big fan of crypto - and I think Stan will concur - this looks really exciting as a way for non-league clubs to break the mold of traditional funding models:
