Coventry’s brown one sticks in the mind. Who on earth thought that brown was a good colour for a football kit?😂
I saw us play them at Loftus Road in that, back in the seventies. Given our dreadful pitch at the time, is was hard to see their players. we won 5-1 and Clive Allen got a hat trick
Re the celtic hoops they were first worn buy us in 1896, as Al will confirm - ie before Celtic adopted them.
I liked the strip for that reason. Also liked the old red and black away quartered shirt, and the light blue dark blue hoops which was also a tribute to our original strip.
we need a few pix of the abominations, Rs or non R

Was that Allens debut mate? - If so I was there as well.

His first start. He had come on as a sub. I was there too.
yeah so we seem to be wearing the yellow / gold away. Thought the black as seen in this thread was away?
Anyway back when Al was a nipper you only changed kit if there was a clash, we'd never play blades in anything other than the hoops.
Now its kit on an off like a tart's knickers. That's the power of marketing / merch I guess.
Be good to have a worst kit ever thread, open to all examples from all clubs, could include Wembley suits as wll as the shirt, etc etc etc
Sheff.Utd played in black shorts with black socks identical to our away strip so there would have been a clash if we had played in our away kit.
Why we did not play in the hoops is another question - probably money if we have committed to sponsors to wear the other kits a minimum number of games per season. Bet we already have a schedule worked out for the whole season of which games we will wear which kit - that's advertising these days.
When I first started going to games at Loftus Road we played in plain white shirts with dark blue shorts and the only sign of hoops for a while was on the blue socks. Who else on here remembers seeing that one?

When was that, Robin?
My first game 23rd September 1957 - Third Division South game beat Millwall 3-0 at home not that I remember much about the game. But never forget my uncle walking me up the stairs from the street in the middle of the old single level Loft as it used to be, and seeing the green early season pitch for the first time. One of my earliest memories that sent a tingle down my spine - hooked from that moment on.

Thanks much appreciated. Unfortunately my "attendance" these days is remote with technology (when Sky are not mucking about) as I can no-longer make it to the ground.
Maybe a good thing that I cannot make it there now but I can live with all the happy memories during good times and bad and hope there will be more to come.

Twenty years before I turned up. Lol. Fair play. I hope you get to watch all the games remotely. Old School. No wonder you were affronted by @qprdk tell you to go forth and multiply, even if he did so in jest.
