Big lad ,right age at 24 right footed plays central midfield but can also play attacking or defensive midfield. Plays in the Belgian top league where his team sit second after 4 games all of which he has played in ,scoring one and one assist . Market value (take with a pinch of salt ) 2.5million euro but last transfer was for 1 million in 2022. Plenty of international players in his squad and he has played for Denmark at all levels up to u21
15 goals in 59 games for Westerloo in the top league so should fit into the Championship in terms of experience and likes to get forward, must be known to Marti I would guess. Probably worth a punt with Chair out, Colback a liability Field a bit off the boil at times and Varane still to get up to speed (I think he will). Gives us options we need.
Sorry but EDB is a squad benchwarmer or League One at the moment imo. Maybe loan him out but if we sign this one then sell him.

Nicolas Madsen is leaving Westerlo and opting for Queens Park Rangers. Westerlo reached an agreement with the English Championship club on Monday evening regarding the sale. The 24-year-old Danish midfielder will still need to travel to England for his medical tests. Two years ago, Madsen was acquired from Midtjylland for 1 million euros. He will become teammates with Paul Nardi, a former goalkeeper for AA Gent, Antwerp-born Ilias Chair, and former Antwerp striker Michael Frey. Today, the Dane will bid farewell to his teammates and the staff at Westerlo. After that, he will head to London. In the meantime, Westerlo is looking for a replacement and has already inquired about Pieter Gerkens from AA Gent, as has KV Kortrijk, but this interest is not concrete. Last year's top scorer Last year, Madsen was crowned the top scorer of the "Kemphanen." He scored fourteen goals across all competitions, nine of which were from the penalty spot. This season, the central midfielder was a starter in the team of Timmy Simons during the first four matchdays. |

I know nothing about madsen but if he does arrive must be the end of EDB at our club. Shame as I still think there’s a player there but have to trust Marti and Nourry’s judgement

Going by the logic of having two players competing for each position that's Colback, Varane, Field and Madsen competing for the two CM births. This also points more to Hayden not coming and EDB being loaned out.

9 goals from penalty spot still means he scores a goal from open play every five games or so - I’ll happily take 8/9 goals from a midfielder. Really interesting this one.

Madsen sounds more attacking than the rest.
Field, Colback, Varane and EDB play as the 6's and then got Madsen who would be just ahead so a midfield 3 of
Field Varane
Madsen
for example. Id say he's more competition for Anderson, Chair etc.

Id say he's more competition for Anderson, Chair etc. there's no way he's competition for Chair. Madsen's strength according to stats is holding mf. More in the Field mode than Chair. The fact that he's scored a few over there suggests that he can do box/box which is a massive bonus. But that doesn't make him 8 or 10. |

We really are building for the future and putting a lot of faith in 4-5 new players that I think club expects to be mainstays in the 1st team.
