just all round frustrating wasn't it? was really hoping for a show of force this game against one of the worst teams in the league.

i was intrigued by the 3 at the back as it was at least trying something different but was cautious about madsen playing as a sitter.

but we looked so so bad, its the sloppyness that i couldn't get past as it was constant throughout the game. so many wasted opportunities too, fox was so at fault for the first goal. i had a perfect view of it and it was a routine collection of the ball, he did the hard part but then somehow lost it (without touching the ball no less!) and didn't make any concerted effort to win it back until it was too late.

madsen was as awful as always BUT he did win 2 headers this game, didn't do anything mind you but at least he managed to get his head on the ball lol.

thought frey looked the best of a very poor side and really felt for him today. he chased everything, he got onto multiple loose balls and constantly pressed but no one bothered to support him.

today was the worst game of the season imo. blackburn, derby and hull were all bad too but this game was supposed to be the one where we turned it around. 2 weeks to work on things but aside from a switching up of the formation it was the same old shit. we can't play the ball around at the back, the defenders aren't terrible with the ball but they're not proficient enough to pull off slick passing and marauding dribbles nor are the 2 sitters infront of them.

to play the game that marti wants he'll need to spend around £30-40m. we maybe have 3 players in the entire first 11 who could step into that style but the rest simply can't.
and when it does? we desperately play it direct and hope for the best.

westy summed it up perfectly a few weeks ago when he said we're trying to do too much at once without being good at one thing in particular or something to that effect.

only other positive for me was the debut of morgan. it's a big ask to bring on a kid for his debut with 30 minutes left but he showed more in that 30 minute cameo than madsen has all season.

speaking of madsen i do truly think that there is a player in there, if you watch him closely you'll see that he's very tidy with the ball and has a great touch on him. BUT he's one of those players who i fear just might not be cut out for this kind of physical fast paced league and is already showing signs of regression.

I want to see that back because when he done it in the game, I actually said to my son I thought he drilled it too hard rather than place it into the path of one of our forwards?

Completely deflated tonight. Can't be arsed with them any more. Will expect relegation this season, regardless whether it improves or not. Bored to the back teeth of seeing us flop year after year after year, regardless who the manager is. Marti is the latest in a long line of flops and he won't be the last.

Normally when you sign players you want them to lift people to there standard, Hayden example last season, but this lot have been dragged down or were not good enough in first place.

So annoying as that squad that finished last season was in the right place it just needed a tweak not complete overhaul which we got. Keep Hayden get in decent RB, decent forward and replace Willock. That would have done with bit of filling in around the edges.

I'd keep it, with JCS. And I'd try Santos out at RWB. Last chance saloon for him. And Saito at LWB.

Agreed. I think Celar was ok and also vs Hull. I’m not going to try and claim the new players have been good but our issues rest equally with the players from last season and Marti.
