We had Wells and Hugill on so called "season long loans" .... They were in the "shop window" till January 

Luckily Hugill's form dropped off and likely would have gone in the January window as well...

much improved today. once we sorted our mess out we actually looked like a team capable of stringing a few passes together.

thought a few players looked tidy, varane made a couple of mistakes but he looked very good for me and really helped us keep a foothold in midfield.
might not be to everyone's liking but i thought smyth had a good game too, his cross for morgan's goal was a misshit but even so he did give their fullback a tough game.

now celar ... wow, it was an astonishing performance. his reluctance to challenge for balls had me on the edge of my seat, his positioning was mesmerising, the few wayward touches truly spectacular. he's given me hope, a hope that wasn't there before. the hope that maybe, JUST MAYBE, that i at 31 years old and having not played any competitive football since i was 18 might just have a chance of making it as a professional footballer.

That's the fear. We had nothing like 5m back when Wells was available. This summer was a big summer of spending for us, and I fear we could have blown it for a few years now.

Reminds me of when we went down around '96. We squandered a lot of money on the likes of Mike Sheron. Then our coach - might have been Stuart Houston - said "this club has shot its financial bolt." Well it seems like we have just shot it again. The fact that we spend x million in the summer doesn't make that the new normal. It means we spent next year's budget and the one after in the 3 yr financial fair play cycle.
