Hevertton Santos ends his contract with Estrela da Amadora and leaves Reboleira Estrela da Amadora is preparing to compete in the I Liga for the second consecutive season, finishing the last season in 14th place, two above the play-off, with 33 points. EPA/MANUEL DE ALMEIDA Brazilian defender Hevertton Santos has ended his contract with Estrela da Amadora, which he represented for two seasons, the club that plays in the Portuguese First League said today through its social networks. In a farewell publication and thanks to the 23-year-old footballer, the star-studded team detailed the player's statistical data in the seasons he played for the Reboleira club, with 47 matches and two assists, plus a promotion to the division. Trained at Sporting, which he left after arriving at the B team, Hevertton Santos joins the already announced departures of goalkeeper António Filipe, defenders Pedro Mendes, Kialonda Gaspar (Lecce, Italy) and João Reis, and forwards Luan Farias (Benfica B) and Ronaldo Tavares (on loan to FC Seoul, South Korea) from the 'tricolores' squad. On the other hand, Estrela da Amadora already has three signings: goalkeeper Marko Gudzulic (ex-FK Vozdovac, Serbia), midfielder Paulo Moreira (ex-Varzim) and striker Tiago Ferreira (ex-Sporting), in a squad now coached by Filipe Martins. Estrela da Amadora is preparing to compete in the I Liga for the second consecutive season, finishing t last season in 14th place, two above the play-off, with 33 points. Estrela da Amadora said goodbye this Friday to Hevertton Santos, a Brazilian full-back who represented the club in the last two seasons and who is appointed as a reinforcement of Queen Park Rangers. The 23-year-old defender, who trained at Sporting, was out of contract at the end of this month and reportedly refused to renew his contract with the Reboleira team. tvi.iol.pt/noticias/estrela-amadora/liga/oficial-estrela-da-amadora-confirma-saida-de-hevertton-santosehttps://azscore.com/news/football/1254350-hevertton-santos-ends-contract-with-esta-da-amadora-and-leaves-reira-sapo-desporto

Just hope the overseas players we are reported to be signing will settle quickly in the UK and blend in with the squad - big change from Brazil to the Bush (no pun intended) especially if you do not have the language so it can take a while or even a season before we see the best of them.

Anyone know anything about this Hevertton Santos who's apparently inbound? Can't say I'd even heard of him until today.

Not too much. Born in Brazil but moved to Portugal as a young boy. Worked his way up through the youth ranks and was part of the Estrela First team that won promotion to the Portuguese Premier league in 2022/23 and has been playing for them on a 2 year contract that is expiring today. No idea if he turned down a new contract or they released him but he had played a good portion of this season for them in the Premier league. Not too much else but he has had 3 seasons of first team experience although not 100% starter. Maybe Willock has recommended him to us

He played this year in first Eleven (First Division Portugal) against Porto (Galeno) and Benfica (Di Maria and João Mário). Also against Sporting, the club where he was formed from new. He spent one pre-season with Sporting's main team, before leaving for Estrela. He has dual nationality.

He is used to playing successfully against the best wingers in the Portuguese championship this year, Champions League players like Di Maria. He has tactical culture from having done all his training at Sporting, quality, speed, technique. He needs to adapt to a new championship and country. I think could be an asset when the coach bets on him.

Starting to think we will be playing with 3 at the back. would make sense given now have five CB If they’re at back can’t have Dunne RB that’s not his game so this fella and cannon to fight it out.

Time to give him a go at RB perhaps, following yesterday's debacle?
It is his main position after all, and at 23 he's hardly one for the future.

Think dunne was a revelation at right back when he was switched last season, we’ve played one game. Think there’s much more of an issue on the left personally

Towards end of season Dunne was starting to get found out imo
Served a purpose him covering but if we want be more threatening going forwards that requires FB who can get up and down the pitch which is not Dunnes game. If we’re facing big ugly opposition then fair enough stick him back in but might be worth seeing what Santos has about him.

I think who's playing in front makes a difference too. He was horribly exposed with Smyth in front of him for large parts of the game yesterday.

I reckon JCS is off anyway, Dunne will likely slot back into the middle with Cook in the coming weeks.
