Early days but not seen him get on ball at all.
I thought he was RB but he’s come on twice RW so maybe unfair to judge.

Even less impactful than cannon at this point, maybe even Kakay. Hope he will grow in to the team in time.

Despite suggestions to the contrary, I think Dunne's place as right back is pretty safe! We haven't seen Santos at right back yet admittedly but looks weak as piss to me and think will get bullied like hell in this division. Very early days obvs but early signs are that data science on a player in Portugal doesn't necessarily translate into Championship effectiveness. Saw him in one of the friendlies and thought he was beyond bad. Way off being a starter for us on current showing.

Well he was in right position to clear ball that would have been a tap in for Cambridge last night. Something that Kakay and Nikko always failed to do. Hes young and new to the league. Have to give him more time to form a judgement.

Probably fair James - you are obviously kinder than me. I'm a bit grumpy about how pre-season and the first game went.

stainrodisalegendYeah, Santos is a weird one. Looks super lightweight for a defensive role in this division. I'm hoping we have a plan to toughen him up a bit in the coming months.

Great cross last night begging to be tapped in just no one following in as per... Although we did follow in for our goal which was nice to see 😄 We will soon train it out of Santos! That lad did pretty well btw. Got to be honest, thought he was terrible pre-season but certainly don't think we need another right back now.

This guy is just pants. Hesitant Santos. Makes Kakay look class.

He's not a defender in this division. Tidy footballer but way too soft to play right back in the Championship.

He is very high up the list of the worst players that I have seen at Rangers. A truly woeful player who has no game awareness at all.

Tidy but you’ve got to be a shithouse to play defence in this league. Wasn’t given much support to be fair. Which again is problem of playing Madsen, Anderson’s Dembele and Saito in same side.

I thought he was ok last night my concerns were going forwards think his pass completion must be like 10%

Like a few that we've signed, I think there will be a period of adjustment in terms of learning the league. Problem is, we don't have enough proven Championship players in the squad to have the luxury of bedding them all in slowly.

Need to stop tinkering and go back to what worked Dunne at right back and JCS (when fit) at centre

Another player I feel looks a dud.
Does some ok bits and then follows up with something completely stupid.
Not a fan as it stands.

not particularly impressed with him this far and i'm normally optimistic about players. doesn't look good enough for this league.

Thought he had a stinker Tuesday. Need to improve fast, until Jake is ready and Dunne back at RB.

I think he's a decent right winger at this level, but not a right back (on current evidence). And Dembele is wasted at RW. So play Dembele central, move Santos to RW. I've suggested this in my starting 11s in games so far, especially when JCS isn't available. Ashby looks better at RB, so for example:
Ashby Cook Dunne Paal
Santos Field Colback/Varane Saito
Dembele
Frey

But can't see on current form how he gets selected if everyone fit. Chair and Saito must play. And we desperately need Dunne back at RB where he was solid last season. Don't think Ashby has done anything to demand a place yet personally. I would go: Nardi Dunne Cook JCS Paal Field Varane (or Colback if fit) Saito Dembele Chair Frey Only question mark for me in that line up is I don't know if Kiki can play right wing but he must be in the team and he would be better than Smyth even if he had one leg.

tbh i'd rather dembele, saito and chair be given free roles in the attacking midfield. let them play, rotate and figure it out themselves on the pitch.
