Boro’ and Coventry, even Luton, show what a decent manager can achieve. Two were looking more like relegation candidates and Luton could have bombed after losing Nathan Jones.

We 100% got to be starting next season as 1 of weakest poorest sides, in fact I’d say we be in bottom 4 of. Personally think we will drop and end up like a Orient perpetual stuck in doldrums

The Coventry Luton game really does highlight how badly run we are. We’re not making unrealistic comparisons. They’ve had their share of adversity - shit/no ground, small gates, points deductions etc. - yet have risen above by being organised and professional, which we are far from being. If this doesn’t strike a chord with our owners we really are in trouble. Hoos, Les, his mates and a questionable medical/fitness team and we’ll just press ‘repeat’. We don’t work and the owners have had long enough to see that.

Correct me if I am wrong, but none of Luton, Boro, Coventry and Sunderland received parachute payments. Another line that Hoos has used before.
Makes it harder, of course. But not impossible.

But not impossible. not sure about that. Aside from Luton all those sides were relegated when parachute payments were a thing. Interestingly after relegation from prem Sunderland and Coventry were relegated again something even we never managed 🤣😂

This is what makes it doubly sickening. In previous years think its fair to say the clubs who have gone up have been big, big spenders (Fulham obviously, Bournemouth went out and bought virtually a new team in the Jan transfer window before they went up) and Brentford were able to spend eg 5m to buy Toney because they had for several years developed and sold players.
But this year the obvious teams like Norwich and Watford imploded so it left the field wide open. Personally think this season was a bit of an exception as any club with parachute payments is at a massive advantage generally. But its really a "what if" question if we had tied the Eel in golden handcuffs after the Wolves offer with some massive bonus offer in return for promotion, could we have done it? Maybe the core of the team was always too weak and would have been found it, which might have been a factor in the Eel quitting while he was ahead. But I can't help thinking that the Championship will not be as wide open for years. It wasn't that the likes of Luton, Coventry, Millwall, Sunderland etc were world beaters, they just went about doing the basics well.

WBA no longer receive parachute payments and their fans don't even know who owns them. Be interesting to see who they sell in a bid to balance the books.

Kind of championship news……cracking playoff game. How much is that Edwards worth do you reckon? Funny saying that when his team is 3-0 down but outstanding defender

Interesting piece on BBC website ‘hard luck story final’ to compare and contrast with our incompetent ownership and management. I still find it hard to get my head around Luton being non league when Les became DOF.

I’d like Coventry to do it for Robins as much as anything. They were bottom when we were top and were playing catch up with teams with points on the board because of their pitch. Pressure on him must have been enormous.

If Les had been at any other club in the top two tiers he'd have been gone years ago.

If Les had been at any other club in the top two tiers he'd have been gone years ago. Agree about Les but was just making the point that what Luton has achieved is truly exceptional. Plenty of clubs bigger than us have done even worse. We have just stagnated really - probably about where we were prior to MW’s arrival, arguably a bit more fucked due to the FFP threat. Re rich owners there are several in the Champ - not sure ours are THAT wealthy as don’t count the Mittel money as not relevant. Plus with FFP we couldn’t even spend it even if the owners wanted to.
