think its a good appointment for them if hes given time. chelsea are on the decline atm and can't even make any signings for the next 2 windows.
i like lampard, he was a brilliant footballer and had done a solid job at derby.
still, i do hope chelsea don't finish in the europe places

Chelsea are bang average without Hazard and I doubt Lampard will get the PL loans he had to get Derby to the same position they finished under Rowett.
The fact he is a legend of theirs will probably buy him time while the decline of Chelsea gathers pace.....hopefully !

don't mind admitting I wanted him here when Ollie was appointed (and said so) - he was the only one out of that generation of England players who was ever going to have a decent managerial career. (P.Neville for example made a right hounds breakfast the other night, no pun inteneded.)
Reckon this one has come to soon for him though, Sarri didn't do such a bad job after all. What a toxic dump that place is. Win a trophy and out you go.
Hazard was easily EPL player of the year. Genius footballer.

Few points.
Chelsea are not in decline at all. They finished 3rd in the PL behind two fantastic sides & won the Europa League. That is not an unsuccessful season I'm afraid.
Lampard has come at the best time ever for him, a transfer ban. He will have the pressure off & a ready made excuse if things didn't go to plan.
After years of buying the very best youngsters in the world they'll finally now get to play them. Fans delighted, Lampard lauded.
Jody Morris his number 2 has intimate knowledge of the youth set up after winning every trophy on offer when he was academy manager. Won the quadruple in his last season.
Players will respect him & fans will give him time.
My only reservation is experience. When you lose 3,4,5 on the bounce experienced managers who may have been through it before will draw on past experiences. I can't see where he will get this from although of course he has many old heads to call upon for advice.
Personally I hope they lose every game. Hate the shit club but I do think the timing is spot on for both parties.
