That's a shame. I guess he has a contract lined up elsewhere.

He had one more appearance to make which would've triggered an automatic 1-year extension, and the club didnt want to due to financial restrictions. I've got a feeling he won't be the first going, with not many coming in. And it won't be the last time that phrase "financial restrictions" will rear its ugly head.

I dont remember much love for him on the forums but seemed a decent influence. Understandable in this environment though.

Been OK for us. Overall, not a big loss but just seems like we would keep him if serious about challenging for a play off spot.

Interesting that we've announced the departure of Pugh but none of the other out of contract players. Does that potentially mean that we are trying to keep hold of Rangel & Cameron at least for the remainder of the season?

I think it’s more the point that if he’d have played one more game, it would have triggered a year extension on decent wages.

Taken from another site. If that were the case we would have kept him until the end of the season. We could only play Mark Pugh in the last nine games if he agreed to sign a temporary contract extension. Why would Pugh risk an injury knowing he’s not getting a contract from us for next season. If 32 apps was the magic number to earn a new contract don’t you find that an odd clause to trigger a new contract. It was a good decision to release him by the club as it gives an opportunity for our youngsters. We may also see players like Rangel,Cameron and Grant Hall take similar stances over their contracts.
