It was a surreal wedding week. We had the wedding in a place called Franschhoek, near Cape Town. There were crazy bush fires raging for the same 5 days that all my nearest and dearest were in the town. The fire destroyed 6,000 hectares of vegetation, and came within a few hundred metres of the wedding venue (where I was trying to sleep) the night before the wedding. To say I was cacking myself doesn't quite do the situation justice. But the ceremony went ahead, and we had a really great night. I'd put some pics up, but to be honest I don't know how!

First pic is of the wedding venue at 6am on the wedding day. Amazingly through a change of the direction the wind was blowing, and some sterling work from the fire crew, it had cleared enough to have the wedding at 4pm. |
