Lumley - very assured performance...7 Rangel - went a bit mental in the first half, playing it out rather than clearing it, but overall not bad...6 Hall - solid...7 Barbet - stupid penalty to give away, but other than that classy...7 Manning - one of the two weak links from today, never had any belief that he could beat an egg, let alone a man...5 Cameron - superb performance...8 Amos - the other weak link, looked very lightweight and gave the ball away a little too much for my liking...5 Scowen - not bad, not great, average...6 BOS - looked quick on the ball, nearly scored a worldy but didnt really look that threatening overall...6 Eze - classy, maybe shouldve buried his chance in the first half...7 Hugill - didn't really do much attacking wise, hold up play was good though...6.
Of the subs, Chair and Kane were both excellent when they came in imo. Wells was dangerous too.
MOM Cameron.

Can't agree on Amos, that lad's class.
You're more or less bang on with the rest, although a little lenient on Scowen, who was dog shit!

Only change for me are Amos and Scowen. Amos covers so much ground and puts himself in positions which stops opposition without him having to put challenge in
Scowen gave an ugly performance at best he was 4/5

Agree about Amos; definitely was sub par to the others but there were flashes of what he can do. Maybe when the opposition is of a slightly lower standard he will come into his own.

The thing with Amos is he’s a young lad playing in a very tough league. He will have the odd game where he isn’t firing 100% but so far up until today he’s looked classy.
Might see him get a rest midweek and let smith have a run out or hopefully Pugh.

Thought Amos did well today and was always wanting to be involved in the game and liked the balance him and Cameron give us. Overall quite happy with the majority of the performance's given by the team.

I really like the look of Amos. Surprised at some of the comments I've seen about him today. Great to see someone continually looking for the ball and not hiding.

Amos just frustrated me today. Covers a lot of ground, sure, but lost the ball far too much and was muscled off it far too easily for me.

Hall's second half performance was great. Was thinking that just before he scored. 8 for him.

Looking at the overall picture, what's not to like? Yesterday I saw a team very different to those of recent years. I saw a team brimful with talent, with exciting young players, players making their first team debut for us, players most of whom arrived for a free or little money - some as loans. I saw a group of players that is pretty new to each other play with style and shape, with a game plan. This is like a whole new universe compared to the last 8 years!
A huge amount of this has to be down to Warburton. This is what it's like when we have a proper, modern manager. Not an egotistic oaf like Ollie or a worn-out older pro like McClaren. Wow, I'm excited about this season!
Looking at individual players, and bearing in mind this is only the second game of the season... only Scowen really disappointed. How exciting to see a burgeoning CB partnership of Hall and Barbet. How exciting to see us play such a confident high line! There were plenty of times during open play in the first half (as I was in R Block I didn't see the defensive patterns so clearly second half) when all of our outfield players were in the opposition half. How exciting to see the emergence of fast full backs who can cross and pass with accuracy - well done to Manning for continuing to step up as he converts into this position and as for Todd Kane, wow, this boy looks like the real deal!
How exciting to see that 11 who finished the game - Eze and Chair playing together, a sumptuous proposition turned reality - to see the pace and razor-sharp footballing brain of Wells on display again, to see a proper winger in BOS shooting with confidence. And then there's Geoff Cameron, an oasis of calm in the DM position, pinging beautiful 40+ yard passes and watching Huddersfield founder on this rock of a player. And what's one difference between the Rangers team with Cameron this year to last year? Much better organisation. How exciting to see the willingness of Hugill to continue to press for 90 minutes. How exciting to see a team that looks this fit! And, I repeat, this is only the second game of the season. And we know there's so much more to come, with skilful players waiting in the wings who have yet to feature. Like I said in another thread, this feels not just like a different team from recent years, but almost like a different club!
Despite it only being a draw at home, it's still 4 points from our first 2 games and I am one happy bunny. Long may it continue.
Oh, and great to meet fellow RFI members Stan, West Acton, Tarbs and Alan Wycombe for the first time.

Their system gave Manning a lot of freedom to get forward but there was just something missing. When Kane came on showed how it should be done. Scowen no matter that he wants to play more forward is not that capable and again the sub, Chair , showed what could be done. Samuel was back to his athlete in football boots game. Amos was off the pace a bit but I am sure he will come good. Cameron was immense today ,involved with everything. Our defence have not conceded from open play so must be doing something right. From how last season was it is just going to a game knowing that you have a good chance of winning and watching entertaining football'

Statistics website Whoscored gave their star man award to youngster Ebere Eze with a rating of 7.49 from the day.
Completing the top five from the weekend’s action was goalscorer Hall (7.42), Ryan Manning (6.99), goalkeeper Joe Lumley (6.63) and on loan Jordan Hugill (6.63).

Agree with their worst 3 as well: Barbet, Scowen, and Rangel IIRC

I thought Barbet was great Saturday Their ratings are statistically based so some of his errors, especially giving the penalty away, would have counted against him more than others. His passing was excellent though IMO.

We went through this all ad nauseum over the last couple of years with Nasser and his stats obsession never providing the overall picture of a player's performance.

I thought barbet was great Saturday Great is a bit of a stretch. He was very clumsy for their penalty, and wasted 2 free kicks in good positions. But he's certainly a huge upgrade from Lynch, and I think there is a lot more to come from him!

Barbet looks comfortable playing the ball out but a few too many Cruyff turns in defence for my liking.
As for the free-kicks, I can only assume he scored with a rocket in training once as to not be able to get the ball over the wall, twice, is Barton territory...
