I’m really pissed off tonight. Our play and performance did not deserve that result. But I’m still optimistic this season. We’re creating chances, team looks united and Warburton seems to know what he’s doing. We’re trying to play a certain way and we’re only 4 games in, so we need time.
Positives Kane - we’ve basically swapped him for Furlong and got 2m. Brilliant and my MoM. Eze - class. Strong, skillful and also put in a right shift. Hugill - love this guy. Just what we’ve been crying out for ages since Austin left. Chair - everything good seem to come through him when he came on
Negatives Scowen - what a liability - needs to be moved on Smith - awful but unlike Scowen he is young and needs to be given time Barbet - ridiculous challenge and cost us the game. Hope he realises that.....but I still like his partnership with Hall and what he brings to the team.

Thought Eze and BOS were great to watch last night but both really need to start adding goals. Eze is such a talent that I think we should be looking to add a few years to his contract because when/if the goals come then big clubs will start sniffing around.
Amos was playing well before injury. Poor attempted pass from Smith cost us a goal and thought Scowen wasted some good chances. Very impressed with Pugh and think he should start the next game. Kane looks a good player too.
Can't see Barbet being dropped for the BFG as Warburton brought him in and will want to stick with him.

All good points Brian but that left hand side of defence is a concern and is our weak point in our team. 2 penalties at home from the same player tells us that. Barbet looks the part but is not a good enough defender to warrant a automatic place and this is the concern with Warburton in that he will not change his style even when we need to get a win to stop what could be a rot.

Eze head and shoulders the best player on the pitch last night. He has now added tackling, tracking back and occasional heading to his game and looks even better for it. His ability is different gravy and his on field vision is better than anyone else's at the club. His deceptive speed was also on show last night. As said above, tie him to a long contract soon or we could lose him and that would be heartbreaking for the fans.

Expecting him to improve on last season's tally. Very impressed with Pugh and think he should start the next game. Agree. Pugh has been excellent. Barbet looks the part but is not a good enough defender to warrant a automatic place and this is the concern with Warburton in that he will not change his style even when we need to get a win to stop what could be a rot. He switched to a 4-1-4-1 start last night. So one less DM at home. Other than that looks like he always prefers a back four with attacking FBs, and a solitary striker.

High line with no pace is suicide Stanley so formations can be tinkered with but style of play is not. That left hand side is weak and neither Barbet nor Manning can defend or get into the right position on the pitch.

Defensively no pace. Not the team just the back line as shown by the huddrrsfield pen and how vunerable to a counter over the top.

In that case we are just going to have to put up with it as the players we have are all we have to work with. Also, I wouldn't say Kane & Manning lack pace, we won't be playing too many teams as mobile as Swansea this season so I am hoping we will be sufficiently capable of handling the majority of teams we come across.

How many clean sheets so far? Defensively we are poor not helped by Manning filling in at left back as it means he is learning on the job and mistakes will happen. The centre back pairing is what needs looking at from a defensive angle as we do not score enough goals to be that loose at the back.

Negative... BOS needs to wise up. Should have been sent off at Bristol and was at it again last night. Playing well and should concentrate on improving his game not diving in on players especially when he hasn't been fouled.

You'll never be happy if you can't enjoy watching Rangers right now. They are learning and it will take time.

You can see Eze has improved and added new dimension to his game since last season. Just want him back himself and take a pop with his left when in box and back himself
Negative for me our dead ball play, it’s area we have struggled for seasons, don’t appear to have anyone who can consistently put ball in right area from free kick or corner

I thought Eze was incredible last night, easily the best player on the pitch. What a beautiful player he is to watch! He seems to have more time than anyone else, and he was everywhere last night, often helping out our hapless defence. And as everyone has said, defence is the main problem. But as Jimmy has pointed out, Warbs brought Barbet - the main culprit - in, so there's no way he's going to drop him... yet. Personally I feel the BFG would have been a better choice last night, he's another Richard Dunne for me, not the quickest, but reads the game really well and knows how to deal with oppo strikers.
If Luke Amos's injury hadn't forced Warb's hand with the subs, I think/hope we might have seen Wells. Hugill battled all night, but he looked isolated. Wells has more pace and is the sharper striker. I would like to see him start soon, or at least feature. Maybe Saturday would be a good place to start. Not sure why Cameron was subbed (was he injured?), but Scowen was a poor replacement. He looks shot at the moment.
Anyway, those are the negatives. The positives were abundant. How many shots did we have on goal?? I couldn't believe the ball didn't go in the net on several occasions. One time their keeper pulled off two unbelievable stops to thwart us, another, I couldn't believe Pugh (I think) didn't shoot when he had the chance, but instead passed it to Chair (was it?? Sorry, it all happened so fast I couldn't make out who was who), who thumped it goalwards but again it hit the keeper. And if it wasn't for that absolute cunt of linesman, who seemed to delight in raising his flag at any opportunity, I reckon we would have at least drawn that game.
As for Chair, WHAT a player he is! Love him as much as Eze. Then there's Kane, a burgeoning RB with pace and a great cross on him. We're two and a half weeks into the season, and I feel like we're watching a fantastic side being built here. Being part of it, as a fan, is a wonderful thing, because we can genuinely say 'we were there' when it all starts to click - even if it takes half a season to do it. And I really do think it will click soon. Bad luck, crap officials, near-misses, elementary defending errors - the luck has to turn soon!
It's a strange feeling when you come away from a 3-1 loss feeling positive!

Nice post Hud and I fully agree. I think it must be attending the game and watching it all unfurl that draws that reaction as I usually hang around afterwards waiting for Dave to sell his mag and all the talk was about how well we played and not really about the result. It is obvious that the players are still getting to know each other on the pitch and are learning to implement the system and, as you say it will still take more time before it pays off. What a time to be alive LOL

Just saw Everton dominate Villa and lose. Everton will be 7th. Villa won't.
