My take on yesterday...
It was a thoroughly deserved victory. We started the game really positively, direct from the kick off in fact. I can't remember the last time we went straight on to an attacking move directly from ko. Following that we dominated play for the next 10-15 mins, at which point Sheff Wed began resorting to very dirty tactics as they just couldn't cope with us. The fouled, simulated fouls and spoiled their way through the rest of the first half. Bannon should definitely have seen red. The penalty was an outrageous decision as said on the match thread. Unfortunately we then found ourselves getting riled up and reacting to their tactics, resulting in us compromising our own sweet free-flowing play.
We corrected this in the 2nd half though and proceeded to wipe them out during a 10 minute golden spell of two beautiful goals, followed by further large periods of domination where we could and should have killed the game off with a third. The final 10 minutes we just choked them though, which was at least professional, albeit not pleasing on the eye. As a desperate attempt to counter us they resorted to copying our own 3-5-2 formation, and brought on Mass - neither of which made any difference as they just lacked the ability to deal with our skill and movement.
Hugill's hold up play was absolutely superb (best since Zamora), not to mention the great finishing for his goals. Chair once again played some sublime stuff. And that Wells assist for Hugill's first was a sight to behold. Lumley still needs to work on his kicking distribution - more of them going straight into touch again yesterday. His throwing OTOH remains excellent.
