However this crap season turns out to see Chaz back in the hoops will be one hell of a treat.

Would fill you with confidence that the few chances we do create might be taken but let’s not be under any illusions we’re getting back the player that left.
I would be happy if this came off and hope we would still get Murray too

Much prefer to see Charlie back here than Murray or Rhodes. I'd probably give him the captain's armband too. My only worry is fans expecting him to be the player he was when he left us........which he isn't!

Charlie, his bootlaces tied together, a 100K weight strapped to his back, blindfolded, will offer more to the team than either Dykes or Bonne....

Really don't want to bring the mood down as I bloody love Chaz, but I can't help feeling slightly underwhelmed. Nowhere near the player he was when he was with us. Have to say though, a bit more whelmed than about Rhodes or the other one.

Still only 31, so plenty of goals left in him I'm sure. He was very happy at the club during his last stint and was massively loved by the fans. Don't think he had that level of adulation at Soton and WBA, so hopefully that would give him an added confidence boost with us, if he returns. We're a good fit for him, much like Nahki was. From that perspective it's just a pity we're still playing in empty stadia.

He may well not be the player we had 5 or 6 years ago and nor should he be. The man is a goalscorer and will finish as long as we create chances foe him. If he stays fit and plays he we get 8 to 10 goals between now and the end of the season. The other plus is he is a big character and a leader something we could really do with.

Wouldn't want Charlie back. He's not the same. But if he dyes his hair dark again, then he's welcome.

From that perspective it's just a pity we're still playing in empty stadia. WBA fan on FootballForum said he wanted him as the main striker last year, but Billic didnt play him. So they still think he was good enough to be the main man for a title chasing team so I dont think his fall from grace is as drastic as some might think. Same as Murray whereby he hasnt played much but is healthy so he should still be able to cope with the demands.

Will be good to see Charlie back in the hoops, just hope Warburton sorts out the abysmal service to the strikers too.

He is not the quickest, never was actually , but he knows how to get into the right positions in front of goal, and I seem to recall that he was good at set pieces/corners against also.

Not convinced we'll see him kick a ball for us watching the news today. The rate this 2nd wave is escalating is frightening.

That`s true. To be honest, I think this season will end pretty soon. I just hope we will stay up if that happens.

the key issue. Deep crosses etc.
You also need someone to play off him.
To give him a fighting chance MW is going to have to make tactical adjustments... so fingers crossed.

Is this the result of our wonderful scouting network and DoF? Let’s just go for someone who used to play for us. It’s lazy and screams of desperation. Having said all that, I think he’ll do well for us but it’s the complete opposite of our new so-called philosophy and shows we are to be frank, clueless.

I think it's a sensible signing myself, as long as we ain't breaking the bank to get him. We know he loves the club and will put a shift in, it'll give the place a lift and it'll bring a much needed bit of experience to the squad too. My only worry is we pin our hopes on him being the old Charlie Austin, cos I'm pretty sure his best days are behind him now.

The rumoured signing of Charlie could be seen by some that the DOF is playing the PR game that our club has played so many times. If it works and we avoid relegation I’m sure it would be a good time to leave anyway. Is this the result of our wonderful scouting network and DoF? Let’s just go for someone who used to play for us. But you do make a fair point, although any philosophy is out of the window for now. We just need to stay up.
