Charlie Austin won’t be tarnishing his name at QPR whatever the outcome as far as I’m concerned. I’m certain Charlie won’t be slow in telling MW what needs to be said. is that not what Barton done at Rangers and look how it ended 🤣😂 MW certainly appears to like having “ yes men” around with the present set up.

Watched his interview and whilst it was great to hear soundbites such as “the name or number on the back aren’t as important as the badge on the front”, about 3 and a half minutes in, he said the most relevant thing of all. “I’M A GOALSCORER”. It’s the thing we have been missing the most. He needs service and he needs a partner.
Personally I'd write off the existing 'strike force' and stick Chair in to play off him. I'd have Chair up his arse all day long.
I'd play Willock & TC behind them as they can see a pass, and all of them crossing the ball in training until they could provide with their eyes shut.
If forced to play the boy Kane, he'd be out and out old school full back. I wouldn't let him in their half until he could kick a football properly.

For me same team and formation as the last few games, possibly drop Kane for Kakay, if fit. Austin in for Bonne.

Not in my opinion, you look at who has been providing the majority of the chances over the last few games, it’s most probably Dykes and then Chair. Austin Dykes with Chair behind will create and hopefully finish the chances. Chair and Austin, Austin will be isolated an awful lot in my opinion.

Charlie's heart and mind are up for the fight, so here's hoping his body is too. No complaints from me whatever happens. Top class geezer, and a Rangers legend coming to do his best to help us out.

Or that the impression I get sometimes.

[br He’s been providing chances, if you have the opportunity go watch the last couple of games. He’s been playing well and doing everything you’d want from him, other than score. If you take away Dykes and just have Austin and Chair up front you’ll change the whole dynamic of how the team operates out of possession. Chair and Austin aren’t going to continually press from the front, you’ll give the opposition much more time on the ball to pick passes etc. I think as a unit the team is looking good out of possession, certainly better than earlier in the season, a big part of that is the pressing of Dykes and Chair. I think that’s also the reason Warburton is having to sub chair after 75 mins or so, because he’s knackered from pressing continually. Straight of the top of my head, yesterday, Dykes cut back to BOS, good goal scoring chance, Dykes winning the ball and playing a lovely ball to Kellman who miscontrolled or he was through 1-1 and I think there were a couple more, 1 for Chair.

It’s the thing we have been missing the most. Yep. Of course we had two goal scorers and the fools running the club gave them away. Yes, I know they were on loan, FFS BS, finances, etc, but they knew we were getting millions for Eze and could have used that. Serious people would have moved heaven and earth to keep Nakhi and Hugil and make them permanent. Both would have been happy to stay.

Hopefully we’ll see on Tuesday Austin in and Chair and Dykes doing the work and running for him, I think that sounds quite a formidable front line, personally.

i know people absolutely love their stats here but just to point out that lyndon dykes has only created .5 chances per 90 whereas chair has created 2.14 per 90.
not to say that dykes is a bad player, i think he will come into his own eventually and needs to be given time but if i had to choose between chair or dykes in the team it'd be chair every day of the week. he hasn't filled eze's boots but no one aside from a 20m signing would have been capable of doing that, but chair has certainly stepped his game up and has dramatically improved since last season for sure

Nothing will please me more than if Lyndon Dykes turns out to be capable of leading our line

Austin & Kelman - not the first time we would have fielded a couple of Charlies up top !

Chair is a better footballer than Dykes, and Chaz needs a baller playing beside him and not a lump. If you do the basic things right on the park and make no brainer footballing decisions off it you wont go far wrong. Two sides way below us in the structure cross the ball better, have faster transitions and better set pieces. If you want the most out of Chaz all of those things need to be, and must be, corrected.
re Kelman - I was watching him off the ball as well as on it and he just doesn't look anywhere near. We're in free fall and can't afford the luxury of sticking him in. Might as well have Chaz and Dave.

Austin is clearly the best finisher in the squad. Dykes is a workhorse with pace and is certainly capable of helping provide chances for Charlie and hopefully chipping in with a goal or two himself. Dykes will also press the opposition backline for 90 minutes. I don’t think the team needs much changing , Austin in for Bonne, and I think the team looks a lot more dangerous without really losing anything.

He’s a better footballer but he’s not going to be that effective up front alongside Austin, in my opinion. He’s not got the physicality, the pace to operate up there on his own alongside Austin. With Austin in the team you want him to be the finisher, Chair and Dykes can provide the physicality, pace, cleverness, work rate to allow Austin to concentrate on getting into position, making runs etc.

The reason I agree with Hal is that Chair does take too many touches and does not get his head up quick enough in the current set up.
Hes got a decent shot on him and robust enough to play up top in a pair.
If I remember right MW tried him as lone striker against Luton away last season but was not supported at all.

He’s not robust enough to play up front and he’s not got good enough pace, you’ll end up with a front pairing who’ll lack in workrate, pace, physicality as a whole. How are they going to operate? Austin feeding Chair because that’s how it’ll probably end up, I don’t think that’s what is needed. Playing BOS up front with Austin makes more sense, but I’d still not do it. The team is performing well, except finishing, you want to throw the baby out with the bath water when in my opinion all that is needed is a little tweak, Bonne out Austin in.

Can I just clear something up here, I'm confused. Is the Lyndon Dykes that is being described in this thread the one who wears a blue and white hooped shirt with 9 on the back?
