Just watched Man U v. Arsenal...terrible game with two very ordinary sides. Looks like a City/ Pool race once again. Give me EFL any day.

There certainly was a terrible lack of quality for these 2 sides.
I'd be fuming if I was paying the sort of ticket prices that Arsenal in particular charge to have that served up. Aside from maybe Aubamayang, have they even got a single player who would have got into the Arsenal side back in the day? Same said for Man Utd. Nobody out there yesterday that would have got into Fergies title winning side.
I think something needs to change in the game. These players out there that are bang average, wanting 100 grand a week etc. and commanding huge transfer fees. Its the fans that are getting fleeced really.

Are we complaining because two of the premier 'elite' are not faring so well any more? That is a good thing isn't it?

I hate the PL. Expel the top six and let them go off and form a Euro Super League. Reorder the other clubs and share out TV revenues equally between the clubs in each division. Bring back competitive football.

Are we complaining because two of the premier 'elite' are not faring so well any more? That is a good thing isn't it? Not complaining as such. I'm just worried about the direction the game is going. Gary Neville made a good point on the commentary last night. That Fred playing for Man Utd, cost them 60m quid including agents fees, probably getting paid north of 100 large a week, and what does he actually do? He's not a playmaker, he's no Ngolo Kante and he's not really a box to box midfielder as such. He's just a bits and pieces player. That's what 60m quid and a 100 grand a week gets you these days? The game's shafted if all these big TV revenues are going to be pissed up the wall on bang average players. It's actually 1 huge swindle, and it's the fans that attend and everyone who pays for Sky TV that are fronting the bill!

You hear loads of stories of players costing north of 20m quid who don't even play.

on one hand we are seeing some of the best football ever played but on the other hand its killing footballing culture. football used to be the poor mans sport that everyone could afford but now its expensive to watch even in the championship. my ST costs £535 a season but it still costs me another £30-40 in travel, food and most importantly beer.
20m for a good player is seen as a bargain now, tyrone mings for example cost aston villa that much despite never doing anything at bournemouth and only having half a season at championship villa. even van dijk is seen as value for money at 75m which is just plain astonishing. its already became common for players to go for over 100m and its only gunna get worse. who would have guessed 10 years ago that a player would go for 200m? its not even big money now in football

Thing that fucks me off is that the EPL sides destroy any chance of the EFL clubs (outside those who get promoted) building decent sides by buying up all the talent.

What's it offer apart from money, which every club spends on over priced players and wages, your team goes no where except down as you got no chance of making top 4. Your team morale suffering due to new so called stars and getting smashed most weeks, you can keep it,give me a nice 7 - 10 champs finish I be happy.

Yep. It sucks. I despise it. If ever promoted we should refuse to go up.

Best two teams in the PL for me are Bournemouth and Burnley both play decent football and also managed by 2 good coaches who come across the right way. Forget the top 6 as nothing more than a cartel.

Man Utd fans watching that side must feel suicidal given what they have watched in recent history

I think Bournemouth play great football but can't agree with Burnley. For me they are very direct and have been since he's been manager. He's done a brilliant job but they are not easy on the eye imo.

Really poor quality all round this season. Bubble bursting? My theory is there are too many uber rich clubs these days mate. There ain't enough genuinely top quality players to go around all the clubs that need them!

There ain't enough genuinely top quality players to go around all the clubs that need them! An interesting theory. It would explain a lot. I have noticed the price of a player definitely seems to depend on who is the buyer. I liken it to the cost of building work of an extension in Hampstead against one in, say, West Croydon!

It would explain a lot. I have noticed the price of a player definitely seems to depend on who is the buyer. I liken it to the cost of building work of an extension in Hampstead against one in, say, West Croydon! Mentioned it on another thread recently. Gary Neville used Fred at Man Utd as an example on the commentary the other night. Including agent fees they parted with close to 60m quid for that guy. And what is he? Not a midfield enforcer, not a creative player, not a pacey winger. Just a pretty ordinary midfielder who will make up numbers. What's the world coming to when a player like that commands that sort of transfer fee, plus no doubt over 100 bags of sand a week? It's like there ain't enough good players to go round and there are agents out there (who are probably great salesmen) who are capable of polishing a turd to the extent that clubs will pay fortunes for bang average footballers.
